Virginia Tech Transfer 2013

Kinda of a side question, but is it too late to send in a recommendation either today or tomorrow? I already sent in 1 LOR but a few weeks ago I had a different professor write me another LOR for another college. Unlike my first LOR, this one talks about how I self-studied and got credit by examination for Calc 3, which I believe offers a completely different perspective of me than any other part of my application. I don’t know if this makes any difference, but my professor told me it was a pretty short LOR (I didn’t actually see it). Also, I’m pretty sure that my first LOR was kind of a generic one because I can’t think of anything special that professor could have said about me.

I was thinking about calling VT about this, but I’m hesitating because I don’t want to create a negative impression by asking to send something so late. Should I call them first, just email/fax my LOR ASAP, or do nothing? I really want to do every bit I can to strength my app.

Thanks.

For those who have gotten the hokie bird, when you click the link under Your Transfer Credit Evaluation may be complete. DO you get a page that has all your transfer credits actually evaluated? It just showed up for me whereas before it sent me to some page that had a sort of an error message.

@futurehokiebrah mine still gets the error message every time I click on it!

@liiindsayx3 how long ago did you get your hokie bird? Mine came in last tuesday

@futurehokiebrah I got mine on friday March 15th

@futurehokiebrah I still have the error message, but I have a friend who applied to transfer into the college of engineering who got the bird the same day as me (thursday the 21st) and he now has the message showing his credits that will transfer over. He seems to be recieving everything (the email about midterm grades, transcript completion, and the bird) hours before me each time so I’m hoping to get mine soon!

As to everyone else that is still waiting on the bird:

All transfers (summer and fall) are supposed to hear back by May 1st. If you applied for summer, like I did, I would assume we would hear back earlier than that because that only gives people >28 days to enroll, find housing, etc.

Also, those of you who are planning on transferring in the summer: what are you planning on doing in terms of housing this summer? I was planning on subleasing my friends room in her apartment until a lease of my own opens up for the fall, but is this a good idea or should I attempt to do housing through the dorms just for the summer?

Thanks everyone, and hang in there! I was going absolutely nuts last week waiting for the bird but it really doesn’t do you any good so try to relax!!

@mollymcb does tech require midterm grades? Although I got an email about receiving my financial aid, getting the bird and transfer credits evaluated, I never got an email about sending my midterm grades

@futurehokiebrah No, it was only sent to people who I think (im not positive) they were kind of on the fence about but were leaning towards a yes but still wanted more information. I had just around what they wanted for the college of liberal arts and human sciences so I think they just wanted to make sure I was still on the right track in terms of grades. So if you didnt get that email but already gotten the bird, I’m sure you’re in great shape.

@mollymcb sounds good thanks for the quick response. Good luck!

@mollymcb: I was just planning on signing a lease for an apartment with my sister that would begin late may. Mine would actually begin a little after the start of the semester but would live in my sister’s current one until then

@Clemtransfer
I know that feel
I have a 4.0 right now and I’ll end with 38 credits, and my stats are pretty much the same as y’alls being a second-semester freshman.

God I hate waiting

I sent in my midterm grades the 15th and got a confirmation and a Hokie bird the same day but i don’t think it means i’ll find out any earlier than thursday. I think everyone that got the bird within the past week or so will find out at once no earlier than Thursday.

I have heard mention of the Hokie bird appearing on the status page, and wanted to ask what the significance is. Is it an indirect indication that my son has been accepted?

He wants to transfer to VT and is a bit nervous about his chances.

@downtimer2 - Nobody on this thread knows of anyone who has gotten a hokie bird and has been denied so as far of any of us know, it pretty much guarantees admission.

That being said, as anyone who got the bird early last week heard/gotten any confirmation that they had been accepted? I got my bird on the 19th, applied for summer sem 2. I’m hoping that we’ll hear confirmation much sooner than May 1.

@lotbirds…You are sooo right…waiting is awful

Hokie bird!!!

Congrats @Chris11 The wait is over for you!!!

@ClemTransfer Thanks Man, I’m pretty sure you’ll get yours at the latest before next friday if your in the same wave so i wouldn’t even worry. But i can’t really talk i’ve been stressing it for weeks, just try not to focus on it that’ll make the time past faster. Good Luck

@chris11 Congrats on your bird!! :)

So I just checked my status and under requirements there is something new that says “transfer needing fall grades,” does that mean I have to submit my transcript again? Does anyone else have this?
