<p>They are a unique chair design that is used on the UW Memorial Union Terrace during the late spring to mid-fall.</p>

<p>Those chairs and pink flamingos are what Madison is all about.</p>

<p>No to flamingos, that is/was a fad. The chairs are forever- generations of students and others populate the Memorial Union terrace overlooking the lake; a must visit part of trips to Madison long after you graduate. They were an icon by the 1970's, still going strong.</p>

<p>Someone in town sells refrigerator magnets of the pink flamingos on Bascom. I like the pink flamingos. What a hoot, and talk about quirkiness.</p>
