W Grades

Hi, if anyone could answer my questions, I'd really appreciate it.

Im currently a CCC student and planning to transfer to Haas UCB.
Im having a major problem with my Statistics class.
I am sure that I will fail it. I only have three weeks left to make up for it.
Should I just withdraw and retake it?
To what extent would a W grade in a prereq hurt my chances of getting into Haas?
Thank you very much.

definitely drop it. one W wont hurt u. getting a F in any class, expecially a prereq, will basically disqualify u for haas (unofficially disqualify i mean). u would have no chance with a F

you’re getting a F in a basic class like statistics and applying to haas?

take the W

What’s your GPA btw?

my GPA so far is 3.6.
so if i drop it now and retake in the spring, would that still be ok?

you’ll be okay as far as applying goes

please please i really need help.
the deadline for dropping with a W grade is on the 19th.
and the only open spot for counseling is with the counselor who told me before that i have no chances of getting into berkeley blah blah blah. so i guess its useless to go see him again.

you don’t have any shot at getting into Berkeley. Take the W.

If you called/emailed the admissions people at Cal, they would tell you the same thing they told my child: “One or two W’s will not hurt you.”

I know it is past the 19th; hopefully you dropped your class with a “W”

what i really want to say to you is that you should not hesitate calling the Haas Under Graduate office (# is listed on the website) and talking with them about all that may be concerning you regarding admissions.

Haas undergrad office is very helpful, and you don’t need an appointment to talk with someone over the phone.

If Haas/UCB is your dream, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it… especially your CC counselors. I know more than a handful of Cal transfers that experienced the same negativity from their CC counselors.

keep your head up and get it done. Good Luck!
