W&M "Upped" Their Requirements for Transfers

Ahhhh!

I am going insane. I applied to W&M on October 1st and I find out in a week if I made it or if I have to try somewhere else. It's totally the WORST experience, ever.

Just a few months ago I looked at their transfer admissions page and they clearly stated that transfer students must have a 3.5 from a four-year university and a 3.7 from a community college. Okay, I was fine with those figures; actually, I thought it wouldn't be so bad. Now, they just abstractly say 3.6 GPA; I am assuming this is for both CC and four-year? I am not sure.

I applied as a sophomore with 44 credits with a 3.62 GPA. OMG, I am FREAKING OUT. My next semester grades will give me a 3.75 GPA, a perfect 4.0 for fall 2005; however, I don't think that they will take these into that much consideration due to the fact that these were mid-semester figures. So, basically, here I am, applying with a 3.62 GPA among probably a huge pool of transfers with MUCH higher grades.

Uf.

AS.

can you point me to the link?

Btw, I just read your letter of appeal. IT WAS A VERY STRONG argument. I really hope that they re-consider U.Va admission for you ... seriously.

AS.

really? thanks for the words of encourage ment...

i'm sort of leaning towards upenn -

uva - for in-state tuition

upenn - better, but more expensive

however, at upenn, i can take korean classes ( i would probably test into level 4 or so) whereas at uva, korean isn't offered

when i called earlier, wm told me applications would be sent out tomorrow or on monday.

wm also said that if you call tuesday, they might tell you if you are admitted or not. Just remember to mention that you have been accepted to several other schools and are pressured into making a decision and that WM is your first choice

relax, i would not expect 1/10th of a grade-point to alter your chances significantly. They accept almost 50% of transfer applicants, so I think you've got a good shot.

WM decisions just came out.

I got mine in the mail today -

accepted for spring 2006
