Wait-list, any news?

This year more kids applied and they accepted same percentage of kids. I think it's to acct for other schools' ED/EA policy change. I wouldn't be surprised if CAS doesn't go to its waitlist this year. Last year they under admitted because of over enrollment the year before. Cornell took 100 kids of the waitlist last year and it happened the first week of May.

i called cornell today and they said that they still don't know whether or not they are going to the waitlist. i'm on the waitlist for a&s. i really hope they figure it out soon. i just want to know!

Has anyone heard anything from CALS yet?

well everyone... my school just got off the phone with Cornell, and it does not look good. Fewer students accepted Cornell for Hotel Adm, which is why they have a few spots for waitlisters, but it is full for other colleges... which means that the only available spots will be if kids who said they would go to Cornell, suddenly get off the Duke waitlist for example and decide to go to Duke. Only those very few spots will become available to us, but they will come late... probably not before June... That is so ridiculous, so unbelievable, and so totally unfair. So now ... back to reality: I need to focus on housing for next year. where will you guys be studying engineering next year ? I will be at McGill. Is anyone else going there ?

I'm going to be studying engineering at University of Miami. Hopefully I get off my other waitlists.

Did everyone get the waitlist email?

yep 5 mins ago

Can you post it?

Dear SKP:

Thank you for your continued interest in Cornell University. Since you have elected to remain on our waiting list, I am writing to provide you with an update.

As of today, we have made a limited number of offers of admission from the waiting list for our School of Hotel Administration. Although there is still a possibility that we may extend offers of admission for Cornell's other colleges and schools, we are not prepared to do so at this time. We should have another update for you during the week of May 26, or you may hear from us sooner if we are able to extend an offer of admission to you.

With best regards,

Jason C. Locke
Director
Undergraduate Admissions Office

I bet Jason Locke is sad that he's the most hated person in the Cornell admissions office.

He signs all the rejection letters, etc.
You see his signature and you're like "ugh!"
He should get a more positive position, or at least be allowed to sign happy things every once in a while.

I sent my letter expressing interest to Jason Locke. Maybe he'll let me in because I believed in him.

Jason Locke signed the GT letters. we love him...

^He also signed my ED deferral letter so I have mixed feelings about him. lol

does this email even mean anything?

...as far as engineering goes, I know if you fail a course twice in the engineering college you are out...anywho, i was wondering if pratybush (transfer student right?) has signed up for cornell housing yet? If you havent' and you want to would you like to help me out and sign up with me....as in I need to find a student who is registered but not registered for Cornell housing to switch with me because I am trying to negate my housing contract for financial and personal reasons, but they won't allow me to because there are still beds available...if you are interested please contact me or somehow tell me!!

**I am a freshman math major with an emphasis in applied math and cognitive science so if anyone has questions about engineering math I can sorta help...I also did ITD to go from Human Ecology to Arts so let me know if anyone has questions!

Cornell Engineering says they are not planning to use the wait-list. I phoned them and they said all of the colleges are 99% not using their wait-lists.

Whoa there. Annie needs to take a chill pill.

Annie is right. Enough is enough.

from:Freshman matriculation rates up across Ivy League - Resources

"the Cornell admissions office also saw a 1 percent increase in their yield with 47 percent of the 6,838 students admitted promising to attend. Last year, 46 percent of the 6,715 admitted pool chose to enroll at the Ithaca, N.Y., university.

Cornell admissions officials noted that they are still waiting to hear from a few students who were granted extensions due to financial aid decisions. However, they also said no further wait-list activity is expected as the number of students that decided to attend was higher than expected."

time to move on.
