DS just checked Minerva and he has been wait listed. It asks whether he accepts or declines to be on the wait list. Sigh.
DId anyone else get this?

What are DS's stats? I hope he gets accepted!

Haha, why the hell is his mom looking up all this about the college? He should be on here.

Or maybe the kid has an actual life, and little time for the trivialities of the internet.

Being on an internet forum occasionally, or even often, regarding your future and your upcoming college choice does not in any way consititute "not having a life".

Are you just TRYING to be argumentative and silly, or did you have a decent point to make?

Anyways, to the mom, I didn't mean it beligerently...I just found it odd that he wasn't on here himself.

What I want to now is, has anyone else been waitlisted? And what does anyone know about being on the wait list, pro and con? DS inclination is to decline, he has other options.
There are lots of parents on here on behalf of their kids.

Yeah, back on topic. :)

I personally wasn't waitlisted. But, just thinking logically, I would decline it. Whilie a spot might clear up, I would like to know where I'm going for sure next year, and not have such a large possibility of no immediate college. If he really wants to go there, he could always transfer.

SAT's 1300, unweighted GPA 3.6, lots of AP's, small private school in MA - he has other good options and will decline the waitlist.

Last year I applied to BA and BA&Sc and was accepted to BA and wailtlisted to BA&Sc. I accepted their offer on the waitlist and was in 2 weeks later. Now I'm finishing up my first year in the BA&Sc. Hope it helps to know that the waitlist does clear up.

If he does want to go there, it might be a good idea to accept. The deadline for acceptance of admission decisions for is May 1. But eh, it might conflict with his other choices' deadlines.

His stats aren't much different from mind, except I used my ACT, which was comparatively a lot higher than his SAT. I obviously don't know from experience, but I'd bet he'd get in on a transfer or something

If we accept, are we binded to attend?

It said that I was waitlisted and asked me whether I wanted to accept the waitlist, I clicked yes because it didn't mention any kind of committment to attend. Now I am starting to worry. Any ideas?

I think at worst you'd just have to pay some fee. I don't think they'd sue you or anything :-)

Email them about it.

spikemom- what school did he apply to?
His stats are almost identical to mine.

I was also waitlisted today for BA...I accepted the waiting list offer bc i assumed it wasn't some sort of binding agreement...i was wondering if anyone knows when mgcill will let me know if they have a spot availalbe (will it be 2 or 3 weeks or will i not know until after may 1?)

DS applied to Arts, he has declined hte wait list, it made things seem to crazy (and he has been deferred by Michigan just to make thngs more complicated) best of luck to everyone - at this point DS is leaning toward UToronto (where he hs been accepted) -

is it just me or is it a lot easier for canadians to get into mcgill? esp. if youre from quebec?

Don't worry guyz; being in the waitlist or accepting to be there does not mean you have a commitment!!!

It is just a means for the university to have an idea of whether you will still be a potential student.

It seems to me the standards are higher for US students; I don't have a problem with this as it is their state school, but I think that's how it is

Yeah, I'm pretty sure McGill has some general quotas they try to meet in terms of how much of their student body comes from where. The percentage of Canadians is significantly higher, meaning somewhat lower standards. Or at least that's what I was told once...
