mommyg - I’m thinking of your son, it’s so easy for us to know that he has so many great options ahead of him. I’ve found that it is really hard to console my S when he is diappointed (D, on the other hand feels better after a latte run to Starbucks :D). I hope there is something that may take the sting out of this. He will choose a school that he will LOVE!

YEEEEEEESSSSSSS!

And thank you thank you to all parents who made this admissions trip oh-so-much-more-bearable with your humor, support, laughter and good wishes for everyone, including me a long-time lurker who finally joined to pay back some of the goodness!

S admitted to Stanford today. It wasn’t planned, but the entire family was home when the email came. Me and my 2 daughters (S is the only boy in the house) surrounded him and undulated in unison to call forth mother earth as they did in the movie Avatar. HA! If it was bad news, I wanted us to at least have a little laugh. As we were chanting and swaying, I gave him permission to open the mail and - YES. Wow, what a feeling of happiness for him.

We would have NEVER applied EA if we hadn’t learned here on CC about the slight admissions bump by applying early. So again - one thousand thanks.

S is out with friends, and I just went to the dollar store and bought 20 helium congratulations balloons I’m going to put up in his room, for when he comes home.

My happiness is tempered by some of the disappointing news reported here today. It’s so weird that I feel so invested in the success of ALL the 2011/2015 kids, but I do. So I’ll keep rooting for the positive outcomes I know will soon come.

Oh, mommyg…I’m really sorry. What school was this for? Has he applied to others so far? You’ll see, he’ll find another school to fall in love with and hopefully his disappointment will be short lived.

I really wish both of you all the best. Come back and let us know where he’ll end up going!

Congratulations Cliffylove! Stanford sounds awesome!

Congratulations on Tufts, SlitheyTove. It was on S’s list and he seriously considered EDing there.

I am pleased to report that both my twins got in ED – S to Northwestern, D to Wellesley. We’re still shaking!

Double congrats! :)

Big congratulations to SlitheyTove’s, momjr’s, chocolatechipcookie’s, and cliffylove’s kids!!!

Mommyg, my condolences to your son. :(

My daughter did not get her ED decision letter today. Probably tomorrow. She did, however, receive a very nice merit scholarship to her safety school in the mail today.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I really appreciate the support.

Pizzagirl: Congratulations! I can’t imagine going through this with 2 kids at once.
Cliffylove: Stanford! What an amazing school. Congratulations.

Mommyg: I’m really sorry things didn’t work our for your son. He sounds like a great kid, and I’m sure he will have some good choices in the spring. All of my older daughter’s friends that didn’t get into their ED choices ended up very happy at other schools.

Omom: Congratulations on the merit scholarship. I hope you get good news in the mail tomorrow.

oh mommyg, I am really sorry. I know how much you wanted this for him. If it helps, I told my S that no college can validate just how great he is, and I know that right now those words won’t feel right to your son, but in a day or two he’ll see just how great he is. What are his other choices?

I am over the top excited for you guys. Cliffylove: YAAAAAAYYYYY!
and chochipcookie, slitheytove, momjr and pizzagirl ---- way to go.

For everyone who is still waiting: breathe in breathe out breathe in breathe out…

Congrats to everyone who has had good news so far. So sorry mommyg and those who have not - but there are still lots of options!
There was a post on the Colby thread - they mail on Monday and post online at 5 PM on Wednesday. We live close enough that we will probably get the letter Tuesday or Wednesday. Dad will pick her up and get the mail with her each day. I will be at the hospital getting steroid injections on Tuesday afternoon…
If I post the payment on Wednesday at Middlebury, won’t that count?

Pizzagirl:

Twins? Oy!

Northwestern was on my S’s list too, but ultimately chose Tufts because of it’s proximity to our home, just a few hours by car, no plane, train, bus, etc…and Loved everything about the campus and people he met, really an immediate connection. Glad it showed in his essays.

Momjr:

Thanks for the good wishes! You guys too! We know a few BU people that LOVE the school, the kids they’re meeting and it’s location! Your D should have a fabulous experience! Where is your older D? My younger S is a freshman…he doesn’t want to come near me now that ED is finalized, because he says if I come too close to him I’m liable to start suggesting colleges for him too and he’s nowhere near ready! :o

Thank you to all of you for your warm wishes.

To quote college4three’s famous line: you are the best group of people I’ve never met! Love that line!

mommyg: please come back and tell us you’ll all be okay and what the next plans are. We’re hoping for the best!

ccc: My older daughter is a junior at Penn. She was accepted ED three years ago and has loved it from the first minute. My younger daughter originally wanted to look at campuses in the South. After visiting her sister in Philly, she saw how exciting a city school could be. She also decided that she prefers cold weather and loves the change of season, so she switched gears to focus on urban schools in the mid-atlantic and Northeast. BU has been her top choice since we visited last winter. I’m really happy that things worked out for her.

Momjr:

That is so funny. We toured UPenn with S1, and he did not like it because it was too much in the city! Same with BU! However, we have friends and relatives at both schools that love the city atmosphere!

In the end, he got what he wanted, which was a top school with a big green campus, just minutes from a big city and not too far from home. So, I’m so glad it worked out for all of us!

O-mom:

We wish you the best of luck with your ED decision and to anyone else waiting!

^ Thanks. I am a nervous nellie this morning.

My warmest congrats to all those who received good news in these last couple days – and so sad for those who were deferred/denied. This process is so very hard! We still wait - last we heard, they will be mailing Mon or Tues - we are on opposite coast so am anticipating a couple of days after which would put news on day 1 of exams! best to all

omom: let us know how it goes. We are rooting for you guys.

ccc: you flatter me (blush). My younger D is also avoiding me like the plague for fear I start in on her now!

Denied. She is crushed, and I feel so badly for her.
