I'm currently #2 on the waiting list for math16A. I have 12 units without that class and 15 with. Am I in a safe position to get in to the class? If not, what is suggested to do.

The general rule of thumb is, if your waitlist position is ~10% of the total class size, then you should be fine. I think #2 is as good as it gets, considering the math department does its best to accommodate everybody.

I was told by Ms. Peavy that they might expand the discussion sections to 28-30 students if they have seats available. So if you are number two you probably have a good chance. The key is to have a low number in the discussion.

hmm it says #2 for lecture but for discussion there's no number assigned. Does that mean I only have to wait for seats in the lecture?

It will make you waitlist if there is no discussion. So you probably are in a great position at number 2.
