I just called NHS and the admissions counselor said NHS doesn’t know whether they’ll be accepting anyone off of the waitlist until Tuesday, May 15th. He said accepted students will receive a letter in the mail.

As an applicant to the College, I’m starting to assume I didn’t get in. It really is getting too late for it to be a “yes”, and I guess I’m a little relieved that this long application process is almost over. I’ll still have my fingers crossed…good luck to everyone!

@skateme, so does that mean we actually won’t hear back from then until after may 15th? cuz if they’re using snailmail then it will probably take a few days (or a few weeks in my case) to reach us

wait gtown admissions called all our counselors? why wouldn’t they just call/email us like they did with the previous students who were admitted?

I really hope they didn’t call everyone’s counselors… I go to a large public school where the counselor doesn’t really interact with students much. He’s currently under the impression that I’m really excited to go to my current school (which I am!) but probably has no idea that I got waitlisted at Georgetown… If they called him, he probably would have no idea what’s going on.

@x.sunny yea i don’t think they called everyone’s counselors cuz that seems a little strange. i think badwolf4 was as exception. what school are you planning on going to? all this waiting is driving me crazy! i wouldn’t be surprised if we are still waiting for our letters by the end of the month

I’m currently planning on going to UC Berkeley. I’m getting more and more excited about going there and Georgetown is kind of distant now… I have a feeling they won’t be accepting many/any people off the SFS waitlist Plus I’m also a bit worried that I’m not as interested in international politics as I think I am and I feel like SFS and Georgetown in general doesn’t allow much flexibility. Does anyone else feel that way?

Hey guys! I was (somewhat) accepted off the waitlist for SFS.
I applied early, got deferred, and then wait listed.
The admissions officer called me a few days ago asking if I was still interested in a spot because he wanted to recommend me for acceptance to the admissions/waitlist committee.
We had a back and forth discussion over what this meant, and he said that it would be “more likely than not” that I would get in.

I had to turn it down though because of financial aid (I barely got anything for need based while at other schools I got full rides). It was difficult to tell him that it wouldn’t be possible because Georgetown is my absolute first choice. When I applied, I didn’t think I had the slightest chance.
I was definitely honored to be considered, but money issues are paramount for me.
Yet I’m glad to finally have some closure after nearly 6 months.
