Waitlisted! Class of 2016

Anonymous2004, are you gonna accept their offer? I’m still deciding between JHU and Dartmouth

@Mike

Where did you end up choosing?

-iBP

Did anyone here anything yet? I’m dying over here.

-iBP

@iBuriedPaul

Mike, on 4/27 posted the following:
“Dartmouth vs Johns Hopkins
I got accepted to Johns Hopkins and to Dartmouth and both of them have the same major I’m planning to major in, also I’m thinking about becoming a doctor, so I will be in the Pre-Med track. Which would you recommend more and why? Which one is the best in academics, cost, student life and overall satisfaction?”

So I would not believe when he said again on 5/10 that he got the call. Either the first or the second time, or both, he was not telling the truth.

@Ana1

I noticed that, I just assumed that his JHU/Dartmouth thread was nothing more than wishful thinking.

-iBP

@IBP, they are just going to wait for the replies from those admitted off the wL, as well as for the HYPS WL notifications, if any and then they will send the second wave.

@Ana1

I know that yesterday was Dartmouth’s reply date, so I thought that they might start sending out more notifications today or tomorrow. It didn’t even cross my mind that they might be waiting for other schools’ reply dates. Are you on D’s wait list?

-iBP

No, I am a mom but someone’s son in my office had gotten the good news email so I posted here for people to know. Each wave does not start as soon as the previous ends but take under parameters under considerations as well. Since quite few schools have not even opened their WL, the next wave will be soon, but after HYP at least.

@Ana1

It’s awesome that you take so much interest in your kid’s college career. Thanks for the insight!

-iBP

Anyone else heard anything?

I just heard. They sent an email first and not too long after, called my home phone. Strongly considering Dartmouth now!

Congrats iabass! Where else are you considering?

Williams College. I’m leaning towards Dartmouth at the moment, but I’ll do more research before making a decision.

I have until June 4 to make a decision, so I’m guessing the third wave will come a little more than a week afterwards.

hey guys - I heard two days ago and got in :slight_smile: They also called me, which was exciting. I’m deciding between Dartmouth and a great scholarship at WashU, but I’m leaning towards dartmouth. Good luck to everyone!

Did everyone get the new email asking us to remain on the waiting list for several more weeks?

I got it. Any word on Dartmouth’s yield or how many more they can take?

^ honestly at this point, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. There is little to no chance we’ll make it off the waitlist. They mentioned that as of right now their freshman class is full, but they’ll continue to watch the numbers change.

Yeah, but remember the first letter from Dartmourth about waitlist? It was the same, and they still accepted some students from the waiting list. So there are still chances that we will make it off the waitlist.

^ It wasn’t the same… one paragraph was different:

“In the coming weeks, we will continue to watch the changes in the number of students planning to enroll in Dartmouth’s first year class. At the present time, we cannot predict if we will be able to admit additional students into the Class of 2016. If we are able to take further action, we will once again review the applications of students who have remained on the active waiting list.”

“In the coming weeks, we will continue to track the changes in the number of students planning to enroll in Dartmouth’s first year class. At this point, it is reasonable to anticipate that few, if any, additional places will become available in our entering class.”

But there’s still hope I guess.

Any new news?
