I have to agree about the supportive environment; it has been great and a credit to all involved.
@2022jx and anyone else who believes they are rejected: did you get a rejection notification?
I got off the waitlist! Does anybody know what I have to do now? Do I directly contact my other college (Dartmouth) to tell them that I will be attending another college? @gibby do you have any suggestions?
If Harvard was going to take 40 people from the waitlist, for example, would they release 20 acceptances in the first wave and 20 in the seconds wave? Or, would they release all 40 the first time and if some of them turn down the offer, then come to the second wave?
@gibby same question as taylorharry ^
Just a question. I know this is already very late, and should have done this way sooner, but I received a rejection update in my portal yesterday, before I could send a LOCI. The waitlist update information tab is still available to me, but at this point, should I just leave it alone and move on?
^ I donāt think thereās any point in sending a LOCI after getting the rejection update.
I believe they release in waves. If you donāt have a rejection, you are still in the game. Yeah!
Rejected yesterdayā¦ but thatās fine bc Iām so so excited to be Pomona 2022!! Iāve been watching this thread for a while and itās been amazing hanging out in such a supportive community, thanks guys! Itās been really fun! Good luck to everyone still in the running:)
Does anyone know when they make Z List calls?
^^ Z-List calls are made in June AFTER all waitlist spots have been filled.
FWIW: Once a student is rejected from the WL, they are no longer in consideration for the Z-List. If you have not received a rejection letter, then youāre still in contention for the WL or the Z-List.
@gibby so how do the WL waves work? Do they send acceptances for all the available positions and wait for who accepts or do they send it part by part like taylorharry suggested?
^^ Based upon past years waitlist threads, Admissions does NOT contact all WL applicants at the same time. For example, if Admissions anticipates they will have 40 WL spots, they do not contact 40 WL students and wait for their response. They may contact 10, 15 or 20 students, and then wait for their response. Then do the same thing again. Admissionsā goal is NOT to prolong the agony, but to build a great class ā and that happens in fits and spurts as the puzzle starts to come together and the picture of what they are creating becomes clearer.
If they are still trying to shape the class, it looks like the two AAsāAsian American and African Americanāare āover subscribedā, probably slimmer chance for WLs in those categories.
^^ Yes, all those things come into play as well. Admissions can rebalance a classes ethnic and gender make-up when they go to the WL.
I havenāt been rejected in this wave, and when I spoke with my GC she told me that she spoke with the rep and was told that Harvard wants to look at my final grades, and that they will let me know at the earliest June. Does this mean anything?
@scienceabc1 ā that sounds hopeful. I am in same position as you, but I donāt have a GC with any connection. I was just assuming they forgot to reject me! Iām trying to put it out of mind and focus on other choice. Good luck to you!
People that have heard back have been saying they didnāt get an email, but an update appeared on their portal. Where on the portal was this update for you guys?
Application checklist page.
Anyone have any idea when the next wave comes out? Itās so hard to wait!
