Since the first wave students will have until next Wednesday to except, admissions might take next Thursday and Friday to confer and see who they will be accepting for second wave, based on first wave results. So, my best guess is Tuesday (since Monday is memorial day).
My child wasnāt accepted.
I feel like the waitlist was a soft no for her as a legacy.
Is she still in the running? Lots of the waitlisted legacies at our school were rejected this week
Is there a way a parent can check w/o the applicant? Not sure if my daughter has been brave enough to check the portal.
Only if she gave you her login information.
I know they call if there is good news. But do they send you an email telling you to check the portal if thereās bad news?
^^ Yes.
We did NOT get an email telling us to check the portal; I went on because of info here - and there was a rejection. We were never notified.
@chanrooster where on the page was the rejection ? Was it a status update? Did it have a message? I am expecting to be rejected and just want to know what to expect. Who knows? Maybe itās even on the portal and I donāt see it.
Itās on application status page and it says there is an update from May 16. Then a button that says āview updateā.
@chanrooster ā thanks! Good luck to you at your school. I have moved on but still check back occasionally even though it is sort of silly at this point.
But you have no status update, right? You are still in the game! Good luck!
@chanrooster --Good luck to you too. This whole process evolved from something I worked hard for but knew was a long shot to checking every day at 7 pm to see if they got around to rejecting me yet. I am sure you will thrive at your college and thanks for your info and support.
@MomLA2018 - let us know what happens! Rooting for you!
Will there only be two waves of the waitlist and then the Z-list? Or potentially more waves?
So I was waitlisted at Brown and Harvard and I recently got off of the Brown waitlist last Tuesday. I havenāt seen any rejection update in my Harvard application portal, so, as per the previous comments on here, Iām assuming that I might still be in the running to get taken off of the waitlist or Z-list. Iāve already accepted my spot in the Brown Class of 2022, however, and was wondering if that might impact my likelihood of getting taken off of Harvardās waitlist, or if Iād even be able to switch schools at this point. Iād appreciate any advice on this matter. Also congrats to everyone who has been accepted thus far, and good luck to everyone else Iām sure you will all do great no matter where you end up!
^^^ @HogwartsClass22: Since 1991, ivy league schools have been prohibited from sharing that kind of information, as it violates Federal antitrust laws. So, no worries about Brown sharing your information with Haravrd. See: https://www.nytimes.com/1991/05/23/us/ivy-universities-deny-price-fixing-but-agree-to-avoid-it-in-the-future.html
If you get the nod from Harvard, you can then accept Harvardās offer and decline Brown. Brown will not be happy, but you would then be going to Harvard. This kind of shifting occurs all the time for waitlist applicants, as you just demonstrated by accepting a position off the waitlist from Brown and declining the college you had originally accepted,
My daughter got off Harvard waitlist and accepted it immediately.
She did call Cornell admissions office the same day to withdraw her enrollment at Cornell. She was told to email and she did.
However, she had not gotten any confirmation of her withdrawal.
Is there anything else she should do or check?
Thank you very much!
No, but I would assume your daughter would get a confirmation email at some point of her withdrawal from Cornell.
