Waitlisted & the Statistical Chances of Getting In

<p>US News just has NA (No answer) for the Wait list questions.</p>

<p>While Georgia Tech has the Common Data Set Posted for the class that entered in the Fall 2004 and says that they use a wait list, they do not give the numbers of students on the Wait list or how many were accepted from it. <p>Chapter Three of the Report of the National Association for College Admission Counseling reviews the uses of Wait Lists by Colleges

<p>Table 29 on page 36 notes that in 2004 about 34% of Colleges used wait lists while 66% did not and that the number of colleges using wait lists has remained relatively constant over the last eight years.</p>

<p>For Fall 1998 to 2000 they say they use a wait list - but they provide no data on how many applicants were on it , or how many, if any were admitted.</p>

<p>From the available data, it does not seem that they have made much use of their wait list in the past. You might want to contact Admissions and ask them if they intend to go to the wait list this year and what your chances are.</p>

Do you think these are the # of students who were accepted from the wait list, and said yes I will attend. Or do you think these are the # of students that were offered admission, and only a fraction of them accepted. What are your thoughts?</p>
