Waitlisted? What do I do now?

So 3,833 students were waitlisted. See [University of Virginia Offers 7,750 Applicants a Place in the Class of 2015](http://www.virginia.edu/uvatoday/newsRelease.php?id=14562)

If you were waitlisted at UVa or at any other school, I would truly recommend staying on at ONE school. Only accept a waitlist offer it that is your absolute first choice and you would be able to commit to it within a few days. If you do get that amazing call, you typically have a week or less to decide if you want the spot and if you would have to visit or do some research, staying on the list may not be a great call.

Good point^^^ stay on WL only if UVa is your number one choice. Taking up a WL spot, when you don’t really have the intention to accept an offer, wouldn’t be fair to those that want it more than anything. I see what you are saying.

Do we get a letter in the mail if we are waitlisted?

No. We’re gone paperless, for the most part. We only mail the welcome packet to students who received offers.

i emailed UVA admissions to see why I had been waitlisted, but I never got a response. Is this normal? I have a feeling there may have been a misunderstanding on a certain part of the application that I hope did not lead to my being waitlisted.

It’s best to call to talk to a “decision dean.” Remember that our staff (which includes the person who answers all that email) is knee deep in the transfer application process right now.

Dean J - great info, thank you, my daughter has been waitlisted, and UVA continues to be her first choice by a wide margin. Is there any details or materials she or her counselor could provide the university between now and May 1?

thanks

I think the FAQs should cover things. I’d make sure updated grades are sent as soon as the 3rd quarter (or whatever marking period you have) is done.
