Waitlisted....

After being deferred from ED and now wait listed from RD, I'm convinced that God is teaching me something... apparently I just haven't caught on!

Anyone know how many people usually end up on the wait list? I couldn't imagine it being more than 100.. am I way off?

Good luck to everyone!

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. --Romans 8:28

what were your stats? I haven't gotten a letter yet... I'm so nervous :S

If you want to know what your chances are on the list.......call them. They will tell you how many kids are on it this year and how many kids they have taken from it in the past few years. I have been waitlisted at a school this year, and I am calling them on a regular basis and flooding their office with recs and grades. I am also interested in knowing what your stats are, if you don't mind
-Good luck

i am kinda worried too. i got deferred ED, but i sent them my ACT 29 score and my all A's in APs this year. I also got a friend who is high up at the wake medical uni to go and put in a word for me. if i dont get in, i'll head to UNC-CH, but wake is still my first choice. i'll know monday.

Wake over Chapel Hill? Crazy...

ya i got wait listed too. Any idea hoow many people are on it?

ehh...not really. Wake is the superior school.

well in terms of rankings, UNC is actually 3 spots higher this year. both are quality schools, so i wont be upset if i dont get in. i'll be just as happy at UNC, but i will still pull for the deacs in bball... :p

Rankings are biased in favor of public schools. They are supposed to rank undergraduate education, and there is no way in hell that a school like UNC-CH or UCB provides a better undergraduate education than Wake Forest. Nonetheless, CH is still a great school. However, it is great to see that ahduke99 will have his priorities right even if he is a tarheel :) If all goes according to plan we will be better than UNC-CH next year (meaning that UNC has a few guys going pro and we get Patrick Patterson).

heh. i assume PP will go to dook or florida. skip hasn't been at his games recently, so i think wake is out of the running. anyway, tomorrow should be the day i'll find out if i will become a deacon. i guess i should look for a big envelope that says welcome, from what i am hearing. if i do get in, i hope they give me a sticker.

They are both great schools. I know people that go to both. I am pretty sure that the work load at wake is a little heavier.

Chapel Hill does rank higher, but I wasn't just taking that into account. I was just saying:

Tuition : Chapel Hill wins BIG TIME

Education: Possible Tie

Location: Winston-Salem vs. Chapel Hill (Raleigh Area) - Wake county generally has more to do, and a much, much lower crime rate. Then again, I'm from Cary, I don't know how the crime is in "the rest" of Wake county.

Prestige: Both schools are equal on that...though more people seem to recognize UNC, Wake's rep is growing fast.

Tilt: Wake's campus is gated...gotta love that.

I got waitlisted too... I guess I'm gonna have to go to my safety school since no one else wants me :(

i like both wake and unc. at least i know i'm in one of them. now if i can only hear from wake.

i got waitlisted too...is anyone accepting a place on the wait list? I can't dedcide...

i already sent in my card for my spot and sent in another letter with it. Hope i can do enough to push me over the edge

I got my letter yesterday saying that I was on the waitlist. They said in the letter that they normally accept around 20% of the list, which seems a little high though. They also said that they would interview kids on the list, which I assume you have to do if you want any chance of getting of it. There is a lot of work to be done, however there is hope unlike many schools that accept no one or just a handful of kids from the list. I would advise all those who were put on the waitlist to not send in the form, so that I will be the only one left and get in.

nothing today, either.

poor ahduke99...I feel your pain!

20%?? i read somewhere that every year they only accept a few kids off the list
