thanks lol, what is umkc (sorry for being ignorant but i'm not planning anytime in the future to get involved with medicine :)

oh don't worry about it: umkc= university of missouri-kansas city

lol, thanks! are u sure that u don't want to go to wellesley though? :) i guess i understand cuz it's faster and cheaper to go directly to a med school program rather than get an undergrad degree and then go to med school, well, any way u choose i wish u the best of luck!

It seems wellesley waitlisted a LOT of people this year... i'm unfortunately one of them... but i guess i didnt REALLY want to go there cos i heard that there is a lot of high school type drama there.... you know ***** fights and all... but then that is true for most women's liberal arts colleges i guess... heard education there is top noch though... thats why applied ther in the first place...

The best thing you can do when waitlisted is look forward to going to your other school, send back that card if you feel like it, then forget about the school entirely. Don't count on getting off a waitlist. If you do, deal with it when it comes up. You can enjoy the fact that you were not rejected outright, but you might as well treat it like a rejection in terms of "no, I'm not going there."

Okay? Good. ::waves bye to all the nice people who didn't get in and wishes them the best of luck::

Then I read stuff like this:

"It seems wellesley waitlisted a LOT of people this year... i'm unfortunately one of them... but i guess i didnt REALLY want to go there cos i heard that there is a lot of high school type drama there.... you know ***** fights and all... but then that is true for most women's liberal arts colleges i guess... heard education there is top noch though... thats why applied ther in the first place..."

You heard from there is a lot of drama from whom? Does this person even go to Wellesley or know personally someone who does?
For the record there isn't that kind of atmosphere. I've lived at Wellesley for three years. You'll never know, but please don't trash a school you've never been a student at, even to console yourself.

so who has already sent in the waitlist postcard? i have but that was 3 weeks ago :)

i also sent the card in. i'm staying in line, but not giving much thought to it. i've happily sent my deposit to smith, and i'm feeling pretty attached to it.

are most of you staying on the list? i don't think i stand half a chance, but i guess it can't hurt. the only bad part is the wait!

Hey Ladies! I was on a thread quite similar to this almost exactly a year ago. I ended not going in and going to Colgate. Though I was open to Colgate, it ended up not suiting my needs; my conviction that Wellesley was the best place for me to pursue an undergraduate education burned within me through the fall and winter months. I expressed that conviction in a Wellesley transfer application and was admitted for Fall '07. Even if there's no room for you this year...do not give up hope! That being said good luck all with waitlist acceptances!!!

yayy congrats!! i think we hear from waitlist in about two weeks. yikes!

two weeks? really?

for some reason i thought it was JUNE 30th.. hm..
the sooner, the better, i guess

two weeks?!?! nooooooooooooooo

i just recently got off another waitlist and i have to tell them by this monday the 7th! do u think that i should call wellesley and explain my situation?

well they said they make their first offers the third week of may and then the last date to notify is june 30!

ohhh thanks for clearing that up, joanne!
i'm still almost positive that i won't make the second cut, but hopefully i can find out before too much longer.

just a question: where are you ladies planning to go for now?
i'm a smithie as far as i know

Not really.

If you'd rather go to the school that you got off the waitlist for than the one you are enrolled at, then go there. I wouldn't assume anything about Wellesley's waitlist, even based on your good luck with this particular school. You have at least two good choices of schools.

While there is an incentive for you to know that you would be getting off the waitlist, there is no incentive for Wellesley to tell you. You are still a Waitlisted student who is enrolled somewhere else.

I imagine you don't particularly care to pay three deposits, and I have no idea how binding attendance is if you get off a waitlist.

ok then, thanks! i'm pretty set on going to the school that accepted off their waitlist cuz they offered so much financial aid that it would be stupid of me to pass it up

i'll still wait to hear from wellesley but i already LOVE the school that i'm going to so if i am accepted off the waitlist, that will be a very difficult decision to make :)

Yeah my family friend's daughter went there. She liked her professors and education etc. But said she got into a fight with her roomie and the whole high school drama thing and her roomie started spreading rumors about her so ultimately she had no friends because "every seemed to be *****ing" about her. She got depressed, started getting bad grades and no one was supportive, everyone's attitude was apparently "its your own fault deal with it", wanted to commit suicide etc. Eventually she transferred to NYU.
Sorry wasn't trying to slag off the school. Like I said, heard its academics is top noch plus heard its got a beautiful campus.

From my experience at Wellesley, I would say that the women who complain of "high school drama" are individuals who are attracted to that sort of thing. I guess it all depends on what social scene you end up feeling the most comfortable in. I'm sure that you could find high school drama just about anywhere though if you looked hard enough. Wellesley is not like high school though. Thankfully.

Did anybody else receive a letter from Wellesley? I got one today thanking me for supplementary documents that i sent in but in the letter, the dean of admissions states that they're not sure if they're going to use their waitlist but that they'll let us know in a few weeks.

hmm i didn't get a letter.
