Bellicious88 I don't understand, do you think taht they waitlisted you because you are an inter student? Cuz if you think that..so do I lol cuz I'm an inter student as well

Well, WashU lost its shot at me...I most likely wouldn't have gone there anyhow, but still, very annoying. They are trying to bump up their yield and its BS...My deepest condolences to all those who were considering WashU as their top choice and got waitlisted.

(i was waitlisted if it's not clear)

w t f ??? i was waitlisted too and i will honestly say that i thought i was a definite in. just goes to show you how much a school's marketing strategies can lower its acceptance rate. i was accepted to cornell a couple of weeks ago so i stop considering most other schools then. but still, it does hurt. :p whatever. goodbye wash u. saves me the trouble of going to missouri to visit.

also waitlisted...

1470
rank: 4/160
really good ec's

a lil surprised but whatever

Not trying to be mean here, but look at the two posts above me. Both of you were waitlisted but probably wouldn't have attended anyway. So their strategy of waitlisting exceptional applications works well towards approving yield, does it not?

I think a lot of people need to accept the idea that schools are businesses like any other corporation in this country. Their primary goals are to make money and improve prestige (and thus make more money).

Don't take it personally. If you really want in, express some interest, and it will happen. Don't worry, and don't be bitter.

i'm not bitter...Why would I be, WashU is a whole anyhow.

W T F...
1480 730/730/700 4.6 GPA Decent EC's and essays

WUSTL was actually my 2nd choice after Stanford and now these b a s t a r d s waitlist me. How the heck am I supposed to show interest if they don't hold a f r i c k i n g reception/info session in my area? My parents refuse to spend money to visit a college w/o hearing decisions yet so now I'm screwed. I'm bitter now, screw them(but congrats to anyone who did get in).

i'm not bitter. just surprised but i completely understand their strategy. i was just expecting places like tufts to use it, not wash u.

bluedaisy1234 .........I'm not sure. I applied for finaid tho so that plays a big factor in the decision. I don't really see a point of waitlisting me, because they know that we can't pay for it if I get admitted. Oh well....just a dead end to one of the roads I can take.

Which others schools did u apply to?

33 act 4.3 decent ec's good essay
bleh

Hey guys i was waitlisted too...

1490 and 770/750/720 and 4.0 uw gpa
really good ec's

wow how could they waitlist so many amazing scores?

Does anyone know if all waitlist letters are the same? Or do they personalize them?

I'm pretty sure they're all the same. Why bother to take the time for ppl who weren't even accepted?

waitlisted

3.6/1370
Very good ecs oh well.... ( moved here in the middle of high school frm India too thought that would help )

anon314 frm the above posts i infer that some of the letters were personalized according to the type of applicant. I am an international so i was told if I was if was accepted through the waitlist then I would get absolutely NO FINANCIAL AID. Maybe thats why they give you that choice, cmon who in their right mind woul dpay 46000 dollars a year and especially if you are an international:(

same here...wait listed...

this is the second time for me to be wait listed...

when would i get my ACCEPTANCE letter not these wait list mails!!

"I'm pretty sure they're all the same. Why bother to take the time for ppl who weren't even accepted?"

I was asking this because on my waitlist letter, it says something that is very specific to me. It says that, "We realize this decision may be particulary disappointing, given your close ties to the Washington University community." I was just wondering if anyone else's letter said this.
