OMG!!! <– I wanted to bold and enlarge this, but I know I would give some people like butternut a heart attack.

It makes me so happy that CCers are so supportive!! Really, thanks! My appreciation is beyond words. (I don’t know if there’s a smiley face that sheds a tear, but if there was, I would put it here)

I’m afraid my heart started racing the moment I saw you had posted on this thread, so feel free to use all the bolding, enlarging, coloring, and histrionics you want.

We’re pulling for you, and when this is all over, we should all go on Oprah and talk about what terrific support we got online. Or better yet, AB, just give us your real name, and we’ll all file amicus curae briefs with Chicago, or start a phonathon campaign. :)

:):) OMG I just got off the waitlist!!! I’m an ADMIT!!! :)

And I’m NOT joking. (Tell me, am I dreaming? It seems too good to be true…)

This will be the 10 biggest days for me, because right now my form to accept admission + enroll is sitting here as I type this and as I wonder what I should do with it. (It’s a big decision!)

ab2013, a very sincere CONGRATULATIONS to you sir! Seriously, you deserve this, from your continued enthusiasm for the University through the longest college waitlist known to man, to the support you’ve given through these boards. I hope you’ll chose Chicago, but you obviously know whats best for you. Again, congrats.

End soppiness I guess this more or less marks the end of admission season 08-09, what a ride huh?

At first I thought the University must have seen this thread, and realized how many students who would be angry with them for not accepting you after all this time and support–but that would diminish your own real accomplishment here. ab2013, you showed them!

I can’t imagine the confusion you must feel now, between the Michigan you accepted (which is also one of CC’s favorite universities, according to their links) and the Chicago that finally saw the light and accepted you. You’ve proven to us that you’d be happy anywhere. I think you’d be a benefit to any school. Whatever decision you make, I’ll keep watching this thread (and the RD Admits thread, which is where I first saw your news) for updates. You MUST keep us informed. =)

Not to prod in any certain direction…but I hope you decide on Chicago. I’d be happy to have you in my class.

Oh, and take your sweet time on the decision form, with respect to whatever deadline they gave you of course. Now it’s YOUR turn to linger on the decision!

I’m not terribly sure yet where I’m going yet next fall (actually this is what’s keeping up right now) … it’s a huge decision to make, and I need to take into account of everything, like at Michigan I’ve already signed up for classes + gotten my housing assignment + met some people there… etc etc and (biggest thing here) Chicago’s education costs so much more than Michigan’s (over double), and I need to think it over whether it’s worth it or not, even considering how much I love and respect Chicago as a school.

They gave me until June 27, but I really don’t know right now.

I’m in for some sleepless BUT happy nights. :)

God this is hard. My admit counselor called me today while I wasn’t at home and I still have yet to call her (she asked me to return her call to talk to her and to ask her any questions if I had some but I can’t because I don’t know where to start). Last night, I was thinking about staying with Michigan but now I don’t know anymore (maybe even a little favored towards Chicago)

My head is gonna explode and my school tells me that I have until tomorrow or early Thursday morning (with penalty) at the latest to tell them so that they can send out the final transcript.

But guys thanks for the enthusiasm … it’s really encouraging!!!

Congratulations on your admission to Chicago. I know that this is a tough decision to make. I don’t know a lot about the University of Michigan, so it is hard to advise you. And the financial part is really a personal family issue that you have to think about and make a decision about. Putting finances aside, I would encourage you to pick Chicago if you feel that it is a fit for you. My child was accepted a few years ago to our State University’s honor program with a substantial scholarship. Our State University is the highest ranked State U. in the Northeast and has a gorgeous campus, but really was not a good fit for our child. Chicago has been a sensational experience in all ways for her and although the financial part is difficult, I will not regret having allowed her to attend Chicago. The personal attention and opportunities she has received are phenomenal. It really is a special place and is getting better all of the time. Lot’s of luck whatever you choose. You really can’t go wrong.

Congratulations, I am so amazingly happy for you! I feel like I’ve seen you around here forever (Creepy? Yes!) and hope to see you in the fall. I saw your Michigan thread, and I am rooting for Chicago (but mostly because I love Chicago.) I went from RD –> waitlist –> got off in the first days, so I can’t say I’ve experienced quite the level of pain you have, but I really respect you for sticking it through this whole time. If you go to Chicago, we should chill and throw some kind of CC party. You seem really dedicated and if you, God forbid, reject Chicago, I know you’ll be awesome at Michigan. (I’m making this is a bit too melodramatic, haha. Michigan is cool too… have fun picking.) I hope you let us all know what you decide!

Good luck with the decision ab; we’re all obviously biased towards Chicago, considering which board this is, but you have to do what you have to do. Michigan is a good enough school that it might be worth it, financially, to attend there instead of Chicago…it’s not like it’s my home state’s flagship (GAAAAAAAAH).

Just wanted to say good luck, and I’m sure you’ll end up okay no matter what happens…life works out that way. :] Be sure to tell us what you decide!

^Trust me … I have a same thread opened up on the Michigan board about Chicago vs. Michigan. Chicago-ers say Chicago and Wolverines say Michigan. Michigan people talk about $ and how much of a steal Michigan is and Chicago-going people talk about the awesomeness of Chicago’s education and the econ department. (Isn’t there an unbiased opinion???)

I’m guessing that there’s no real “right” way here. Man, I wish I could jump into a time machine and see what would have happened if I went to, say, Chicago, then look in the alternate reality and see what would have happened if I went with the choice that I didn’t choose (aka Michigan) then know which one is exactly better (aka how much I would get out of each education in the end).

Of course, only JJ Abrams would know about the alternate reality. He’s like the master of alternate realities. :)

On the other hand, the clock is ticking for replying to the deadline. My form is technically due this Saturday but my admit counselor said I can send it in on Monday.
