Waitlistees

Good luck guys from an incoming BU student. I feel for you, since I’m on BC’s waitlist (no interest anyway, but would still like an acceptance letter). I’m hope many of you will get off, though I read that BU’s low on aid for waitlistees.

good luck to everyone im hoping for a friend to get in as well so im as nervous as most of you waiting for the day

longest wait.

the previous years waitlist decisions were released way earlier

seriously… are they planning to release it exactly on 6/15?? or is it just us??? i seriously hope its not the latter.

Maybe they’re waiting to see how much aid they can scrounge up for us… =] (I wish).

I got this E-Mail Today, some of you might have got it as well.

"Dear ------:

On behalf of the Board of Admissions, I am writing to thank you for your continued interest in Boston University and for your willingness to remain on our wait list.

We have determined that we will be unable to notify you of the final status of our wait list until July 15. If you have made other plans and wish to be removed from the list, please contact us at 617-353-2300 or admissions@bu.edu. If we do not hear from you, you will remain on the wait list.

Please accept my best wishes as you complete your senior year and approach graduation.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Walter
Executive Director"

i got that mail as well nigcrunch… was that for everybody ??

Waitlisted -
I don’t think so. I think some people were admitted and some they have to wait and see what other waitlistees do.

nah my friend got it too looks like its everybody but they will probably reply before that day

Email dated June 7:

Dear -----------:

On behalf of the Board of Admissions, I am writing to thank you for your continued interest in Boston University and for your decision to remain on our wait list. Unfortunately, all openings in the Class of 2014 have been filled, and we are unable to offer you admission to Boston University.

Please accept my best wishes for a successful resolution to your college search.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Walter
Executive Director

They fibbed to me if others got a different email :stuck_out_tongue: It’s ok, I have no interest in BU I just accepted the waitlist position to see what would happen. Good luck everyone!

If the spots are filled, this might mean they already made their final decisions on who gets off the wait list.

Waitlist students,

First, I know how it feels (initially waitlisted at Emory).

A couple of people are wondering about FinAid at BU. Most likely, your package will not be very pleasant for your freshman year. The funds are mostly exausted. Like private schools with large endowments, BU offers the best packages with the most promising students. Those students aren’t waitlisted. Even if you have high need, most of the money is gone. Additionally, if you do not get any ACADEMIC money this year and you have an average or high EFC, your feelings may be hurt. BU’s Aid works thus: provided that your financial situation doesn’t change/you meet academic quotas, your aid package will never decrease. All academic money is exausted each year on the freshman class( save some set aside for transfer students). You should have a better change next year for need based aid should you accept the offer of admission.

For those of you wondering about why kids with “lower stats” get accepted when you didn’t, there are probably other factors you aren’t considering. Perhaps you do not know the student as well as you thought. Perhaps the student selected over you has something more or unique to offer to the school. BU is one of the schools that I will credit for legitimately using a holistic review process. A friend of mine was admitted with a lower than average GPA. He did wonderfully on the SAT, has ridiculous community service, was a varsity athlete in 2 sports, and supports his family with a job. So it’s not just about what you did, it’s about how and why you did it. “i got A’s because I’m smart” pales in comparison to " I have a 4.0 because I wanted to set an example for my younger siblings as the first in my family to go to college." A school as diverse as BU is not just looking to add egghead after egghead. Boston University tries to round out it’s class with a variety of shining points. If your friend(s) met that need but had seemingly weaker prospects, oh well. And a final point, take a look at your essays. Those matter more than some people credit.

I wish all of you waitlisted students the best of luck. And I hope BU eases your stress by posting your notifications ASAP.

Im glad to see that BU has made up it’s mind. I just hope that those who did not receive a rejection email are those who have been accepted. June 15th is right around the corner do we’ll see.

its not june 15th anymore, its july 15th

Lol yeah I know I typed it wrong, I was trying to be sarcastic. That was a fail.

here’s my assumption.

they sent out 3 types of emails to waitlisted students: an acceptance, the one saying that we need to wait till july 15th, and a rejection. (however, no one in the forum ever posted or mentioned about getting that acceptance letter off of the waitlist and bu is a large school with loads of ppl)

they sent out 2 emails: the one saying that we need to wait till july 15th and a rejection letter.

this seems to be the case by just looking at what’s been posted in this forum, but I honestly don’t see why they would say all the openings have been filled in the other letter if this was the case

Maybe they said the spots were full because they already sent out the acceptances? And maybe they kept a few on the wait list because they’re not sure those people will accept the admission. They did tell you guys pretty late if you were taken off the wait list or not.

I want to know if anybody on the waitlist received neither of these e-mails. That should clear some stuff up.
