Hello CC:

I have been accepted to both Wake Forest and SUNY Binghamton to transfer next fall as an incoming soph. I live in NYS so Binghamton will be very cheap. I don't know much about Wake Forest but it is ranked very high by u.s news (#25). However, from what I have heard from other friends and parents friends is that Binghamton is the much better value (almost $40k less). I am here to ask for your opinions on this decision. If this were your decision where would you go and why?. Money is not the most important thing here but $40k is a big difference, the question is, is it worth it for Wake Forest?

add Emory University into the fold…just accepted

Depends on what you want to do, major wise.

the majors i am looking at are pretty standard at all these universities. english, psychology, and a few others. basically I just want to know if the price difference is worth it for a school like Emory

if you do not go to Emory you have severely miscalculated the cost benefit analysis. Emory is simply outstanding. Bing is strong but not strong enough to to miss out on Emory or Wake for a life time. Every one who got into Emory got in to Bing, the coverse is NOT true. You go to Bing because its cheap not because their is some mythical parity between Bing and the Ivies or top 50 National Liberal Arts Colleges or National Universities. Here is the thing…Is Emory 10 to 15k better per year? Yes. Is it 20k to 40K per year better? NO
