I am looking at all these individuals saying their fafsa was changed. This was merely a school official (your school). Universities are not allowed to change your fafsa details. I had multiple fafsa changes this week; if you read the email of fafsa, a school official made it. Also, if WashU was on your list on fafsa, it will receive an update with your updated fafsa. This is not a sign of rejection or acceptance.
No matter how tough/hard next week is, life needs to keep going on.
universities definitely can change them if you give them access. if you’re talking about high schools, i never gave my high school access to my fafsa so they are not allowed in. but honestly, i still don’t think it is an indicator if you get it or if you don’t. they make a financial aid package for every single applicant, whether rejected, waitlisted or accepted because the financial aid offices and admission offices are separate.
i’m so sorry for all of the unwanted drama this caused i was just confused by the email yesterday and wanted some clarity, i didn’t realize it would upset people.
Did not know there is such an option. Just curious.
I’m glad you posted it - this forum likes to hear about changes, emails, etc. and we love to guess if “it means anything”. Of course it is also correct to say that in most cases it doesn’t correlate with acceptance or rejection. This is just a stressful time for everyone as they wait. Good luck to everyone - March 24th will be here before we know it!
totally agree, thank you for putting this here
Any international student who applied to WashU and also asked for financial aid?
me!
Where are you from? You applied for financial aid?
Me too
Pakistan. and Yes
Okay.
Due to financial aid, I have only received rejection letter and few waitlist.
Just wondering are you sure you can conclude that is related to the need of financial aid, as many colleges claim they are need-blind?
WashU has long been need-aware even for domestic applicants. And, most top privates are need-aware for international applicants.
Wow, that is a sad reality.
This is correct. It is already extremely tough to be admitted to elite US universities, even as a domestic student who does not apply for financial aid. Much much more difficult as an equally qualified international student, even if don’t need financial aid. And if international student does need financial aid, at all but just a few elite US colleges, this makes it super unlikely.
Only Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, and Amherst are need-blind for international students.
For international students yes
they are need blind but i’m not sure how much it helps— MIT, for example, is very transparent in saying that because they are need blind, they have to look at each international as if they are asking for a full ride, hence the <2% international acceptance rate.
If my understanding right, all need-blind colleges are very wealthy, by looking into their endowment $ from 2019.
With more than sufficient money, AOs only need to consider to enroll the best of the best, not worried about colleges’ tuition income.
