This may seem like a dumb question, but what is the weather like? Is it the same year round? Is it like really hot a lot? (I'm from Michigan, it is 90 degrees for like 3 days a year, we are in bathing suits in like 60 degree weather teehee) Rain? etc?

Right now we’re having incredible weather…blue skies and 60-70 degrees during the day…it’s been going on like this for over a week. Basically, you get a wet season and a dry season in the Bay Area. Rainy season usually starts sometime in November and ends around April. In the winter, it can get pretty cold, but nothing Michigan-like. Bring a coat and umbrella and you’ll be okay. However, during rainy season there can be several wonderful days like we’re experiencing now. In the warmer months, it can get cool and foggy in the evening, but if you wear long sleeves and/or a sweatshirt, you’ll be comfy. Other times during the summer, it can get really hot (over 90 degrees), but it doesn’t usually last that long. Our weather isn’t Southern-California-sunny-and-warm all of the time, but it’s pretty mild and nice a lot of the time.

It has been surprisingly nice this past week and I really hope the good weather will stay. Summer is my favorite session because between 9-11 am it’s between 70 and 80 degrees, 11-4 between 80-90, and it starts to cool off after that. The weather combined with the small amount of people there make summer session my favorite time at berkeley.

You do know that 90 degree is extremely uncommon in Berkeley right? Uncommon as in . . . once in a decade??

ehh…you’re probably right. I’m too lazy to check but 90 sounds a bit high.

No - I’ve been here just one semester and I vividly recall one week in September filled with 90-degree days. Other than that the weather’s pretty nice.

Yeah exactly . . . that was a once in a decade epic heat wave you experienced. Not common at all.

I wish there were more clouds on the sunny days, it’s getting too hot.

90 a bit high?

I know it was like 92 in October.

what are you talking about. it’s too cold.

Right now its cold.

But I swear it got up to 90 at times during the fall semester. It usually does around that time anyway. Usually, August - October is the hottest time of the year in the Bay Area.

It’s super cold. Bring thick jackets, and have a few light ones but not too many. I am also in bundles…

From May to October it can range from high 50s to upper 80s or low 90s. Rain is unpredictable. I’ve seen it rain in the summer for a week. The colder months have sunny days that make the temperature around 50-60. I feel like it doesn’t really rain hard except for a few days a year. But at this time, the mornings are cold, it heats up sometimes to high 60s and then drops back down around 6 pm.

Thanks everyone!
