Weird ASSIST Transfer Requirement for UCB English Req. at only my CCC

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>Quick question, I am currently taking English 1A at Reedley College, which is located in the SCCCD District, in the Spring I plan to take 1B. Strangely, for UC Berkeley, English 1A + 1B + 3 are all required to meet the GE req., and according to ASSIST they must all be taken from the same school. Now, even more strange, Fresno City College, the other SCCCD school with the same curriculum and class numberings only has to take 1A + 1B (no 3). Could this be a mistake? Not many people from this school go onto UCB.</p>

<p>No it uses a semester system</p>

<p>1A = 4 sem units
1B = 3 sem units</p>

<p>It looks like for UC IGETC, you need English 1A or 1AH, and English 3 or 3H at either school. If you are at Reedley, English 2 or Philosophy 2 can also be used in place of English 3 or 3H.</p>

<p>On the other hand, if you do not use IGETC for breadth requirements, it does look from here that the equivalency for UCB English R1A and R1B differs for FCC and RC, which is weird if they are in the same district:</p>

<p>I wont be using IGETC; I am a high school enrichment junior. Should I ask the CC counselor if this is correct? I would rather end English after 1B.</p>
