Hello everyone, I would like to know some pros and cons of West Quad. This fall will be the first year for me at UM and I'd like to know straight from current/past students what are the pros and cons. thanks again. BTW, I'm in a triple so yeah that kinda sucks.

pros: on central campus, serves breakfast on weekends,

cons: no elevator

ok..i obviously dont know that much about w-quad, so this is all I can say.

Anyone else?

Pros: Most athletes live in West Quad. Some rooms have sinks haha.

Cons: Older and not as nice as SQuad. (but that doesn't mean it's a dump by any standards. I loved WQuad.)

Bit less modern, less freshmen on the downside.

Closer walking distance, can be a nice atmosphere on the plus side. There's more than that, but those are the basics.

I replied to your other post but I'll restate my points.

Pros:
Close to classes
Serves Breakfast
Rooms generally nice (from what I've seen)
Weekday Omelette Bar
Painini Grill machine
TVs in the dining halls

Cons:
Weekend meals you have to go to Squad
Not South Quad
Lacks a computing facility, unlike South Quad
No elevator...thought you really have to be a lazy because theres not that many stairs
One hall flooded last Spring Semester because of a rampant soccer ball
Getting from one side to another sometimes is tricky because how West Quad is set up.

Overall...not a bad place to live.

Triples arent that bad. If you are in a regular triple, and not an economy triple, then your room will be pretty big. Just hope that you get some cool roommates and you'll have a blast. I was stuck in an economy triple at Squad last year and it turned out to be great.

Pro: My parents met in West Quad

Con: ...my parents met in West Quad. They also feel the need to tell me "South Squad sucks" every so often.

South Quad does suck. West Quad does have a computing facility actually, just opened last year and there's also the Union computing facility, which is where a lot of the athletes can be found at night. Sunday meals you do have to go to South Quad, but unless enjoy being treated like cattle in a stockyard, you'll hate Sunday's there.

And that hallway was mine actually, and it did more than just that, it knocked out three floors and actually caused several people not to be able to move back in. Gooood times.

Pros: Connected to the Union, good location for classes in the Diag, serves breakfast, larger rooms than their Squad counterparts (I think)

Cons: Lunch and dinner not as good as Squad (but you can always go to squad for those anyway), can look like a dungeon depending on where you are. My friend had his room in the basement.
