my school was having math week with problem of the day and I saw this was the problem of the day Friday: the other days weren't much harder...

MATH WEEK - PROBLEM OF THE DAY:

A painter charges $12 an hour, while his son charges $6 an hour. If the father and his son worked the same amount of time together on a job, how many hours did each of them work if the combined charge for their labor was $108?

for national math week..they had a pie eating contest (get it, pi), problems of the day, decorations all over, and some guessing game plus some other crap

wow...this was for "national math week" that IS funny...
I figured it was just a: my math teacher puts up math problems for fun...
haha, pi... where (state) do you go to school?

we do nj math league, the AMC, the national log, the warren county math comp (lol), the rocket city math comp, and tutor and math week and i think that's it...i find the contests difficult, but i dont care much for them anyways..we just need to do them to stay in.....

waaait, you are required to do the math competitions to stay in your school?? of do you mean your math-club at school or something...?? hmmm...that's kinda weird...

I thought that the honorary society of MAΘ had very difficult entrance tests similar to the difficulty of the AMC?
Interesting how your math club is fairly local; some stick only to the national competitions and preparation like Chienkuo SH in Taipei.

ida, just to stay in the math honor society lol...and no entrance exam...we just need to have a 95 weighted average in our math courses and we need to have completed at least algebra II. there are too many people in it though..

it used to be a 93 weighted, but they adjusted that..lol...yeah...it should be a
95 UNWEIGHTED and you should have to be in Honors/AP courses, no CP nonsense is my opinion.

maybe that's because it's just a math CLUB?? it's not a math honor society or is it?? i think HONOR SOCIETY attracts more members..also how big is your school?
