Good advice Pasbal. Since I had no school today I’m going to go in on Tuesday morning before school to see if I can get my transcript picked up that same day. My school doesn’t send transcripts electronically, unfortunately. There’s an option for them to send it for you sometime that week, or to pick it up and mail it yourself. I’ll be doing the latter, and ASAP, so I can rush deliver it at the post office.

I called the admissions office today and they said that the transcript needs to be received, not only postmarked, by the 17th. Luckily they say it’s fine if the online status of my transcript doesn’t say “received” by the 17th - they just physically need it in their admissions office.

I’ll go ahead and email them about the worst case situation being that my transcript will arrive late.

Okay so I emailed the admissions office that I’m going to rush deliver it, but in the unfortunate event that shipping is delayed, it will probably get there sometime during the week it is due, after the 17th.

I have some faith in the USPS overnight service. Going to see if I can pick up a transcript tomorrow right after paying (usually transcript pickups are a few days after payment), and I’m definitely going to mail it Wednesday with one-day shipping.

Anything else I should do that I’m forgetting about? All other parts of my application are in on time, and I’m electronically submitting my final, revised copy of my essay on Wednesday the 12th.

Aside from UF (which I’m not applying to) and FSU, what other public universities on Florida are good for criminology? Is the University of South Florida good, and would it be worth going out of state for?

FSU has the #1 criminology department in the nation, and you are going to get accepted regardless of when you find out (December or March). I wouldn’t worry about it until after your transcripts arrive late and they tell you that they won’t give you a decision until March. Even then, you will still get in, just won’t get your choice in housing.

Other than UF, which also has a very solid criminology department (I believe top ten?), I don’t know of any others in the state of Florida worth looking at in comparison to FSU.

Thanks for being so encouraging, Matt125. I’m striving to get my transcript sent in ASAP this week, but if I end up being reviewed for the January deadline, I would still receive some sort of housing despite not getting my top choice, right? I know I’d just need some sort of dorm, being an out of stater and all.

I got my high school transcript rush-delivered this morning! It will be at FSU on Friday around noon. Definitely worth the $20 fee, in my opinion. Also, Austin Community College finally mailed in my dual-credit course transcript today but FSU doesn’t need it quite as soon. Hopefully the college transcript will get there at least the week of the 17th.

I’m 90% sure I’ll be considered for early action now! Thanks for the advice everyone it really helped! Go 'Noles!
