Junior in hs, need to start thinking about apps. I have a relatively low gpa, 3.3 uw throughout my hs career. However this wasn’t at a public school, I did myp and IB (both rigorous courses). Regardless, 3.3 still isn’t extremely impressive (maybe solid at best). My act is 33, so its quite high. I only have meh extracurriculars (just some sports here and there, MUN, and debate) Plan to study econ, applying to these universities…what should i expect?
- University of Florida
- University of Miami
- University of Michigan
- Georgetown (yes, I already know its unlikely)
- University of Minnesota
- Northwestern
- Rollins College
What is your state of residence? I would say given the GPA Northwestern, Georgetown, and UMich are going to be reaches Florida maybe as well though I could see you getting in as your ACT would be above the middle 50% (which is 27-31) and if it’s instate for you I could also see you getting into Miami and UMinn. Rollins I would say is a low match your ACT far exceeds their average but GPA is average for them, but I think you should get in maybe even with merit money. Best of luck!

UMich, Northwestern, Georgetown are virtually impossible.
UF and UMaimi are reaches due to your below average GPA.
I do not know about Rollins college though
Agree with the above poster. Expect to go to Rollins College. Perhaps you could have a slight chance at a Florida school if you are in-state.
Aren’t there other Florida state universities that may be more of a match? Your list is reach heavy with a safety thrown in . I think you should look a little harder at your other in state public universities - some may love you for that Act score.
I am not familiar with Florida state universities, or I would toss in some possibilities. Also try the parents forum. May get better advice there.
