What are my chances of getting into UT Austin RTF or Fine Arts?

Hello, I know that whatever is said here is unofficial and just speculation, but I want to know what people here think my chances are.

I am not from Texas
GPA: 3.71
My High school does not rank
SAT: 770 - my math score was really low, reading and writing were average, and the score for my essay was a little above average.

Here is some more info

  3. I am learning how to use 3D game engines such as Unity and Unreal, and already know how to use various 2D game engines

  6. I am also creating a hand drawn animated episode
  7. I Do Video Editing using software for PC and Mac
  8. I have done community theater

So what are my chances?

You REALLY need to bring up your GPA & SAT score, perhaps putting aside your current projects to study for it. Your skills are suitable for RTF & Fine Arts so make sure that your interest in shown on your essays. Also, don’t forget to work on your ECs.

@KamenRiderAgito, why do you want to attend UT from out of state? Can you afford the out of state tuition?

I can’t bring my GPA up, I already finished High School, which is the reason why I have time for more then one project.
As for my SAT Score, that I can work on, I have to practice being able to answer questions fast and spending less time on each one, I wasn’t able to answer quite a few questions before time was up.

It wouldn’t let me edit the last post to include this.

I want to attend UT because it has everything I am interested in as far as the classes and surroundings, though I do plan to go there and person and see it for myself.

The faculty have worked in industries that I am trying to get into, it is also in my budget more so then universities in other states that have the same classes, including my own state, even with the cost being more for OOS. Even so I do plan on becoming a residence of Texas, because it is where I plan to live and work anyways.
I also feel that I would be able to take classes outside of my major easier here and maybe ACC classes in the summer, so I can learn more things I can use towards whatever I create

There is also an industry for many things in the city, including film, animation, and video games, which is what I am interested in pursuing, plus me and my family have been planning to relocate to Texas as well.

I would suggest that you get the in state tuition. If you are sure that you want to be in Texas, then establish residency then apply. UT is a great school but tuition for out of state is very costly and the school mandates that a large percentage of students need to be in state.

Do you have a portfolio? When my S was considering applying to Fine Arts, they flat out told him that the portfolio and his design project/essay was going to determine whether he got in or not. You need to look at what that dept wants in their application. He ended up not applying to UT after all but did get his BFA in design from another school and has started his career in the field (which he is not to happy about actually right now). Good luck in your endeavors.
