What are my chances? Thanks for your help.

No, I did not have my work edited on my SPS application. I really don't care about my grammer and spelling on a website where people are using AIM abriviations. I'm typing as fast as I can to get my opinions across, and am not reviewing posts for any errors, it's a waste of time.

true prepy, but it doesnt really how MUCH you do, but how well you do it and your dedication to it. Yes, kids might have some restrictions, but they don't know that, so you might need to make them aware of your limitations and that you desire to do more with what the school will offer.

omg you have HORRIBLE "excuses"!! my parents have been divorced since i was 6! having divorced parents is NOT uncommon these days. plenty of wealthy kids have had a few step-parents!! it doesn't count for pity points! I bring myself EVERYWHERE!! i pay for my own EC's and walk to them (and school..4 miles away) and take care of my brother who has 4 personality disorders and some more serious problems full time (on top of a real job and full time volunteering) while my mother works full-time and my father lives 1,000 miles away. GET OVER YOURSELF. you have NO CLUE how damn naive and uninformed you are.

Amost 4 years ago, I'm sure I did whatever it said!

Prepy, you are getting good info here. All information above is correct. Stop being defensive and learn.

Adcoms have to figure out whether you can excel at their school. While they will take all sorts of family circumstances under consideration, the most important thing is to make sure you have the skill set to compete. Otherwise both you and the school will suffer.

Also, diversity at NE preps is not a middle class white kid from MA.

I have certainly done this on my interviews, and thanks for the idea. I'm getted a little rude, so I apologize, I'll come down. Is everyone at Prepschool like Blairt? if so I don't believe I will be able to take boarding.

How old are you blairt? Like 17 or 18, oor are you younger, or older.

I not being defesive, or I'm not trying to be, I'm just argumentitive. You guys are right though, I'll try to listen more. Blairt, so what school do you go to? I am only asking out of curiosity. Sorry about the "are all kids at BS like Blairt" comment.

But blairt, you attacked me far before I attacked you, you certyainly do not seem like the type of person who would sit there and take crap when you have your own opinions, and neither am I.

Is arguing over who is more "disadvantaged" any help to anyone? Please stop for the sake of the other people on this board. PLEASE JUST GROW UP!!!!

Also prepy, if you're still interviewing, do not say you dominate most classroom discussions. That is not a positive.

i just turned 16. i go to a magnet school.

I didn't say it. Good point. Do you like SPS? It's my favorite, and no I do not think I will get in.

Are you applying to BS blairt? If so which schools?

Indeed, tommeister. Please consider the fact that there are many others on this board, as well as many others unregistered who rely on CollegeConfidential for information about boarding schools (and so forth). Although it is acceptable to have an opinion, it is not acceptable when that opinion impedes the development of the thread, which otherwise contains very valuable information. I urge you to advantage of the private messaging system if you wish to continue the debate, but please be considerate of others and speak with courtesy in the general forums. We want this forum to be beneficial for everyone. :)

That's I have gotten the vast majortity of my information, from this website on larger posts I have found when searchong for information. I have been looking back at those threads to see if they agree with my side or blairts. This seems to be a popular debate topic.

honestly, if blairt is older, he is probably more correct then i am, I'm just more optomistic.

yes, I agree with ChaosTheory, AND PLZZZZ!!!! Can everybody be a bit nicer to everybody else. This thread is turning into like" no you can't......., but I........, you are..........., and so on. And everybody who is being critical to Prepy, plz remember that not everbody has had the same oppurtunites as you have had. Prepy, i think you still have a chance, even though they may be thin, your trying hard and thats what counts. And also, no one knoes exactly what admission officers look at soo everybody, CHILLL

Thank you eell45. I remmember reading a thread on your chances a few days ago. I think you have a chance to.

Once again, I am acting rude, so sorry if I affended anyone. I just have strong opinions and am argumentitive

and blairt, can u plz be nicer!!! you were mean to me and now your being mean to prepy?! is this ur true personality?? or are you just like this to people who dont have stats like you

what are blairts stats? He still hasn't answered me.

i saw them somewhere. look at ll the posts that blairt has put up and look up stats

I was informing him of the situation. Which isn't peachy-keen. I was very annoyed by the solicitation for diversity and a disadvantaged background. That's all.

The most competitive schools have an oversupply of qualified applicants. They can fill 2 or more incoming classes with qualified applicants. As a result, these schools have become reaches for almost everyone, even applicants with 99% SSATs, near perfect grades and strong ec's & sports. You just don't know how your profile will compare with other applicants as admissions committees compose classes.

The good news is that there are many wonderful schools that are just not on the radar of many applicants.

I would love to see more civility return to this board. Is there a message board equivalent to road rage? A few people seem to have board road rage which detracts from the helpfulness of this board.
