What are my chances? Thanks for your help.

Ok, found blairts stats in a post statred by him. Sorry about the gender assumption, I apologize. You really don't like me, do you blairt?

What schools are you're favorite guy's, and girl's? Why?

**Exeter, because

Exeter = [(Pwnage)^(∞)] + [e^(i*x) +1] + 1337. :D *

I know I sound stupid, but what does pwnage mean?

My favorite is SPS, then Exeter, then Deerfield, then Groton, then Andover, then Middlesex, then St. Mark's and finally Brooks. However, I would be incredibly happy to attend any one of these schools.

HuH? what does that mean Chaos Theory?

No, that is a good question:

[quote]

The verb to pwn (past tense: pwned, pwnd, pwn'd, pwnt, pooned) as used by the Internet gaming subculture, means to beat or dominate an opponent. While it probably originated as a typing error of the word own, it is now used intentionally by many members of the subculture. The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts; for example, "He just got pwned in that debate" or "The hunters pwned that bear."

Oh, thanks! I'm new to this whole internet post thing so I don't get this stuff like others.

Actually, not many people understand "13375||D34K (Leetspeak)", or so it is called. You could say it takes a certain type of person to understand. ;)

Ah.. From looking at you're Member info under location, you difinetly seem uniqe. You seem like you are incredibly intelligent. Where do you go to school, and where are you applying, unless you already go to Exeter.

Why thank you! :)

I currently attend my local public high school. I'm applying for the tenth grade at Andover, Exeter, Hotchkiss, and Deerfield. The truth is, although Exeter pwns :D, it would be amazing if on March 10th I received one acceptance letter and three rejections.

Well good luck on march 10th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you get into Exeter. Only 38 days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chaos: There's something to be said for having the decision made for you like that! Good luck!

Suze, interesting post #63 but it doesn't hold water w/respect to what bearcats stated w/regard to conversations from students he had heard and the hope that they would be able to get an SAT of 1200 – even AFTER being immersed in a rigorous BS academic environment. That translates to SSAT of ~1300 which translates to individual reading and math scores of 650 each. Meaning that those students were actually at the school with an SSAT of about 25% for reading and math… how is that possible? And yet the student athletes still graduate from the schools. Lower scores AND less time to devote to the subject matter because of sports -- Logically the student athletes need to have higher scores because they have less time to devote to subject matter in order to pass and graduate. So low scores is not a reflection of whether or not the student can succeed.

Wow, someones done there research. Good piont prepparenttoo!

excellent thinking prepparenttoo =)

Ummm preparent, met any BS hockey guys lately? First, I don't think any of the ones I know came in with a 25th percentile anything, but most were certainly at the low end of the class. One can graduate with a modest GPA and few activities. If all someone does is play a sport one season, they are no busier than other students.

Perhaps Hotchkiss is different. I honestly knew no one at PA reaching for a 1200.

Which school does your child attend prepparent?

Is a 25% SSAT score really projecting an SAT score of 650? Anyway, if I remember correctly, bearcats was referring to one individual. I doubt that one casual comment from an athlete (who might have been joking or exaggerating) can be generalized to a whole set of athletes.

PGs dont take SSATs...so they never had a percentile in the SSATs he's a new PG this year playing 3 var sports..."even AFTER being immersed in a rigorous BS academic environment." ..well not really, as i said, new PG, but this is an extreme case

Hehe Suze, oh those hockey guys, gota love em!! Some one has to be at the bottom of the class!

I find people hear want to believe what they want to believe. They think essays will diminish low scores. Or that great scores alone will get them in. Whatever they have is what the schools want. Is this optimism or denial?

I also don't know anyone at SPS hoping for a 1200! I assume we're talking old scores.

You're right Burb parent, a 1200 SAT may be 25% new, but in the 80's old.

oh by the way i meant 1200 old scale....we always still talk about the scores in old scale here...since most colleges dont care about writing scores...LOL sorry about the confusion
