What are my chances?

Hey everyone. I'm really hoping to get into the University of Delaware next year but I'm not sure if I will.

-Out of state resident (NY)
-SAT 1690
Reading:600
Math:540
Writing:550
-ACT 23
-3's on Bio, U.S and English APs
-610 on Bio SAT 2 & U.S SAT 2
-Took all AP & Advanced courses
-95 unweighted GPA, over 100 weighted
-In clubs, like student council
-Have a job

What do you think??

if you show a lot of interest, you will most likely get in  i would retake the ACTs again or the SATs to improve your score a little

It would be my assessment that unless you are applying to one of the more competitive majors at UD (i.e. chemical engineering, nursing, and a few others) your chances of admission are relatively good. I would submit the SAT scores but not the ACT score (unless you take the test(s) again and get higher scores). Unlike most top notch universities UD puts a greater emphasis on HS courses/rigor of courses along wth GPA/class rank as compared to SAT/ACT scores (but they are not irrelevent). You should be in good shape based on your HS stats/courses.

One thing I could recommend to maximize your chances is to make sure both semesters of your Sr. year in HS that you take a full course load (5 significant classes with as many Honors/AP classes as possible). UD takes a very dim view of students who decide to “coast” in their Sr. year (and just rely on their prior accomplishments and/or high SAT/ACT scores). I know of at least several students who were told this was the reason they were not accepted even though they had coursework/grades/GPA similar to yours with even higher Test scores. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the help !

I’m a New York state resident, as well, and I don’t share the optimism. Since the applicant pool is so huge from our state, the school can afford to be more selective. I’ve personally known more than a handful of students with higher stats that yours who were either rejected or waitlisted. On the positive side, the waitlisted students did get in. I would have other options if I were you.
