I am new to this website but I'm glad I joined because I need to get a lot of things off my chest.

First off I live in California and I am a sophomore in high school midway through my second semester of soph year. Freshman year I got a 2.9 and last semester of soph year I received a 3.0 as of right now I am still maintaining that same 3.0 but I'm hoping to make a push up. I always think about how fun college will be but whenever I sit to do homework or study I just have no motivation. Anyway lately I've really been depressed and stressing about college A LOT and I'm only a sophomore. I have enrolled in 2 AP classes next year in hopes to boost my GPA.

Obviously my chances of UC have become very slim but I am still hopeful of a state (I would really like to attend SDSU) my plans after undergrad would be grad school (which obviously matters more) and so forth. The community college transfer option is still there but I feel like I would just be so miserable at a community college while all my friends are at a 4 year.

Basically what I'm trying to get is; is there any insight/assurance anyone can give me. Any inspiring stories of this same situation.

Most CSUs consider strictly GPA+SAT in their admissions decisions.
UC Merced will certainly admit you once you reach a certain GPA+SAT threshold. Check on their website for the formula.

To get admitted to SDSU, just get a high SAT to make up for your grades.

I suggest you get your GPA up. Its too early to say your GPA will be set in stone. Work hard this year junior year and try to raise it to a 3.4 or 3.5. Don’t go crazy with APs because they could also cause your UW GPA to drop. Start studying for your SATs now. Shoot for a 1800+. With a 3.5 and a 1800+ SAT, you could get into UC Merced or Riverside or SDSU. I wish you luck but continue to work hard.
