What are the chanes of transferring to UMD with less than a 3.0 GPA??

I go to a MD Community college and plan to transfer to UMD. What are the chances of someone transferring to UMD (engineering program) with less than a 3.0 gpa?

Also, if you have your associates degree, will that increase your chance significantly?

Unfortunately, the requirement for all students wishing to transfer to the Clark School is that the overall GPA must be 3.00 or above. So, you have no chance at getting into UMCP Engineering unless you raise it above a 3.00. Be warned too, UMCP Engineering is very competitive and have been known to reject people who have 3.00 GPAs. ALOT of CC students in the Northeast and the South apply there. So, usually the engineering school considers GPA’s of 3.30 and above “competitive.” I’m sure you can do it if you take an elective each semester, ACE IT, and do your best in Chemistry and Physics (Math can sometimes be uncontrollable.) Take advantage of your college’s winter sessions and summer sessions. Even if you have to retake some classes you earned a C in to raise your GPA, Maryland’s definitely worth it.

Also, all transfer students transferring after Fall 2013 must have no less than a B- in Calculus II or calculus-based Physics I.

Best of Luck :)
