m2ck, I would put Birmingham Southern ahead of UAH or UAB:

Alabama
Auburn
Birmingham Southern

m2ck, I would put Birmingham Southern ahead of UAH or UAB:

Alabama
Auburn
Birmingham Southern

Michigan:

Michigan
Kalamazoo
Grand Valley/MSU

CT:

MA:

Florida:

Listed in order of preference; not much separates these universities academically. For sports most people would list UF above FSU but they’re idiots.

pomona, stanford, cal

California:

Stanford

Cal

UCLA

imho

New Mexico

Just a quick question to all those from Michigan: Why isn’t Hillsdale in any of the top three? It’s a very good college from an academic standpoint.

California…

Stanford

Cal

UCLA

Cal Tech and Pomona are amazing, but too small to consider top schools in Cali.

Texas:

1) Rice
2) UT Austin
3) SMU or Texas A&M

As others have said, TCU is just an overpriced and even worse version of SMU. It’s not even a good school IMO - kinda actually trashy from what I’ve seen. Also trinity university is more of a liberal arts college - not really comparable to national universities like UT.

UW
Whitman
Gonzaga

New York:
Privates (all better than the top publics)*

Publics

*If I was counting specialty schools, Julliard School and Cooper Union would be there.

Washington:

Whitman

UW

University of Puget Sound (Gonzaga? Evergreen State?)

This, with the obligatory concession that this sort of list is arbitrary and pointless. But fun. Or if nothing elsr, an effective time sink. Really, UW and Evergreen are so totally different it seems silly to even see them in the same discussion.

Massachusetts-University category-Harvard, MIT, Tufts, Brandeis. LAC’S-WILLIAMS, Amherst, Wellesley, HOLY CROSS.

Florida:

UF or Miami
and then FSU.

(and maybe toss in New College if you like an LAC education at a public university price. =D)

NJ

Princeton

Rutgers

TCNJ

South Carolina

1) Wofford College
2) Clemson University
3) Furman University

Illinois would be:

1) Northwestern
2) U of Chicago
3) UIUC

Sent from my M865 using CC

North Carolina:

1) Duke
2) UNC Chapel Hill
3) Wake Forest

Rice

University of Texas Austin

This one is difficult either Texas A&M, Baylor, or SMU

Stanford, CalTech, Berkeley.
