what can i do to get in??

Since I'm a junior, I have a few more months until I have to apply, but I was hoping somebody could tell me what my chances are of getting in right now & what else I can do.

Stats:
I'm taking the SATs in January, but I took them for practice in 9th grade and got a 1700, so hopefully I will have improved a lot in two years.
-GPA: 3.8 uw, 4.2 w (all honors & APs except for physics and chemistry--science isn't my thing)
-senator on student council (3 years)
-on newspaper staff (3 years--currently the news & front page editor, hopefully i'll be editor-in-chief next year)
-work at math tutoring place (2 years)
-Nation Honor Society member (elections haven't been held yet, but i'm planning on running for secretary or VP)
-Beta Club member
-SADD club member
-interned at CNN
-summer programs at Duke & American University

NYU is my dream school--I am in love with the setting, the people, the cultures, pretty much everything...I plan on majoring in journalism (magazine journalism possibly?). I would so so appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers and tips on what I can do to maximize my chances of getting in! Thank you :)

Your GPA is good. However, your SAT scores (assuming you’ll be applying for CAS), should be in the 2000+ range.
