I'm going to be a social science major in Revelle.
Should I start with GE's? (I only have to take the Hum series and sciences, others covered by AP) A few classes for my major? I'm also doing Pre-med, so should I start with a science class too?

Thanks

CHEM 6A
MATH 20A
Lower-div social science major prerequisite
whatever

Adjust for AP credits as necessary.

Should I start on the Revelle Hum series as soon as possible?

Why should I take Chem before Bio or Physics? Or does it matter?

I would advise just getting HUM over with asap. Or, if it's possible, find a community college class for the summer that will give you credit for HUM.

Chem 6A is a prereq for BILD 1 (the first of the bio series). So, if you don't have whatever AP credits, then you pretty much have to take chem before bio.

Physics, the 1 series for pre-med/non-scary science majors, I've heard to be time-consuming, but not hard. I'm currently taking the 2 series, and every night after staring blankly into my physics book, I want to jab my eyes out... But really, it doesn't matter when/in what order you take physics/bio/chem. Although most freshmen don't put off the chem.

If you think about it: med schools require a buttload of chemistry. 1 year gen chem, 1 year ochem, and lab(s); whereas physics and bio are only 1 year each. I think this is why most people just go ahead with the chem series- it's just verrry long! Otherwise, it's not that big a deal!

Also, for the math, if your major does not require it, med schools only require the 10 series, not the 20 series. If you're not a math person, this series will save you a lot of calculus troubles...

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much, that helps a lot.

I'm looking at the pre-med requirements, and I just wanted to verify that pre-med students have to take the Chem and Biology that's intended for science majors right (even though I'm a social science major)? Actually, what biology classes should I take?

Does anybody know what classes I should complete in time for the MCAT?
