And yes, you can have visitors in the dorm, but I believe they can only stay for a certain amount of time (a few days or something like that in 'x' day increments). For summer, you can have a visitor (doesn't have to go to this school) stay 3 straight days every week. You paid housing to clean up after yourself, not those who are on a visit.

However, I think you were asking if students who live off campus can visit in general. Yes, they can, and I believe as often as they want (w/ out sleeping over) as long as they don't disrupt anything.

How is San Rafael? Have you experienced it? What is the best dorm complex for parties or meeting people and stuff?

Hahaha I love this stuff, it's like Vegas, you go to the casinos during the day (you go to class - except you GAMBLE WITH YOUR GRADES!), then you go back to your hotel room and start to chill for nights (the apts/dorms) - and you go to night clubs and Vegas Shows at night (IV Parties and DP parties).

You are technically supposed to sign in any guests you have with the front desk. Whether this applies to people who don't live in the dorms or people who don't attend UCSB is unclear. But, in all honesty, I've never seen anyone register their guests, and in general, people don't care. It's probably there just in case they need to point to a policy to get rid of someone and to prevent people from moving in.

Most people party in IV, though there are often smaller things(quiet hours start late on Friday and Saturday) in the dorms, or pre-parties where everyone meets up before heading out to IV.
