what do you spend money on?

besides books and food and other things needed for classes/survival, what else do most people spend their money on? i'm just curious as i've been working for the past 3 summers and have saved about $5,000 in an account. i know that its not that much in the grand scheme of things and my family is pretty well off anyway but im just wondering what i'll spend it on haha...probably save most of it though. id like to eventually get a motorcycle when im done school so maybe i'll just keep most of it

I mainly spend it on food, some sort of software, cigarettes, public transportation and entertainment (e.g. movie tickets or video games).

Honestly I don’t spend on many things.

I don’t spend money on anything but food and textbooks.

My roommate spend 3k our first semester. She went out to eat a lot and went shopping a lot. I’d be less wary of the occasional large purchase than regular small ones. Getting starbucks a few times a week adds up really quickly.

Mostly food, clothes shopping when I can afford it, cabs/cover charges/groceries if I’m at school… that’s about it. Oh, and concert tickets, when I can afford them.

"Getting starbucks a few times a week adds up really quickly. "

so so true

food, thats pretty much it.

Occasionally gas

Other people. Hookers.
Clothes. Video games and other forms of entertainment.
Food.
Rent.
Textbooks.
Tuition.
Cell phone bills.

Yea that’s about it.

Food mostly, and some other incidentals. I’m saving up to purchase a bicycle (well, technically I have more than enough to buy one now, but I want to have a substantial amount of $ left over for when graduation/loan-paying time comes around. Preparing for a rainy day or two wouldn’t hurt, either).

i’m addicted to coffee, and i wish i wasn’t cuz i would save soo much money.
i now get the new frappes at mcdonalds cuz they’re 2 bucks instead of spending 5 bucks at starbucks. ughh i wish this addiction could end!
any ideas?

You could make your own. For the amount you’re spending getting retail coffee all the time you might as well drop the money on a good coffee machine.

^^ give your money to me then you will have no money to buy coffee. That will solve your addiction.

Deal?

OK now let’s write up a contract. Your signature there.

manayy - idea. smoke crack. That’ll get rid of the coffee addiction.

Most of my money is spent, probably evenly, on two things - rent and food.

Other than that, I like to spend money on ‘home improvement’ stuff and bicycle related stuff (currently shopping for a road bike) :)

Strippers

I’ve already spent around 800 bucks at strip clubs

I started going last summer, it’s so addicting man

loan bills, cell phone bills, and occasionally clothes

I usually only buy food (on meal plan but I’ll eat out once a month or so) and textbooks. I have a freelance writing job for when I want some extra spending cash, which usually goes to various gifts for friends and designing shirts (a hobby of mine).

strip clubs ain’t that great IMO

Manayy just start buying a tall cafe misto at Starbucks, it’s not too expensive. Add sugar to taste. Good stuff.

I’m so glad I hate coffee. I save SO much money because of it!

Right now I’m not really spending money on anything. I don’t even buy gas unless my car’s absolutely about to die because of it. I haven’t found a job yet so I don’t have money to replace money I spend…so I spend very, very wisely.

Otherwise, my money goes towards Itunes a lot.

Starbucks. Though lately, I’ve been drinking a lot of tea–so no Starbucks as of recently. I’ve found a new crush on Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie tea. That is stuff is addictive. I bet there’s cocaine in it.

Clothes. A lot of clothes.

Shoes. A lot of shoes.

Accessories. A lot of accessories.

The occasional tattoo.

Bills. Mostly electricity and cable, internet and phone.

Books. A lot of books.

Subway fare.

Taxi fare.

Clubs

Train fare to New York

Bus fare when I’m bored at school on weekends and want to go to the mall

Snacks from the convenience store, which is ridiculously expensive, so sometimes I end up walking to the local Rite Aid instead
-Random crap I buy online

I don’t really spend that much. Usually on snacks and transportation. That’s it =</p>

Mostly alcohol. The occasional movie or some clothes too.
