Hello, College Confidential! How is everyone fairing these days?

I am reasonably confident I will attend Texas Tech University as freshman this next semester. I was also accepted in to the Honors College, and I am intersted in pursuing medicine as an occupation.

What are your thoughts on this medical school early acceptance program?

Texas Tech University :: Honors College :: Early Acceptance Program: Health Sciences

If you would not like to read the entire link, I'll provide some key details:

Texas Tech University grants potential early acceptance into their medical school to their undergraduate students who:
-Are enrolled and graduate in the Honors College (I have been accepted)
-Enter TTU as a freshman & Texas Resident (I will have done this)
-Have a Composite score (Math + Reading) of at least 1300 on SAT (I have done this)
-Earn at least a 'B' average in 32 of the required 36 hours of science courses
-Maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA

Those are the principal portions of the early acceptance application. The committee will also look at the student's extra-curricular activities, volunteerism, and conduct one or two interviews with the applicants.

If granted early acceptance, the student may waive the MCAT. The student will be notified of acceptance at the beginning of the second semster of their junior year. If the student accepts the offer, they are commited to TTU's medical school and may not apply to other medical schools if he or she intends to maintain their early acceptance status.

Given your knowledge, what are your thoughts on this program?

Thank you! =)
