My nephew was admitted to Summer B. Does he need to be on campus? What is the difference between summer and fall admission for 2023?
Congrats! Your nephew is a Gator!
He’s expected to enroll early, for the Summer B term. Classes begin June 27th and end August 5th.
Summer B is a nice way to get use to campus, before the Fall term starts. Not as crowded or as stressful.
Note he’ll have to go through new student orientation earlier (May?).
Thanks! Can he do it online or must he be on campus? He has the Bright Futures scholarship. I guess he would burn the first semester of scholarship funds??
He has to “be on campus”, but the classes he picks can be online. I really recommend he go ahead and plan on attending. Bright futures is based on the number of hours he takes for his degree, and the summer credits count. Bright Futures isn’t based on the number of semesters, so he’s not losing out on any funding.
Florida also has a summer credit requirement (must attend at least one summer or get a waiver), so he can knock that out now.
I appreciate your response. It was not what he expected as he applied for the fall but he’s going to take it! An acceptance is an acceptance.
Is there a minimum of classes that they have to take for Summer B?
To clarify:
“Bright Futures awards are available for Florida Academic Scholars and Florida Medallion Scholars for the summer 2022 and summer 2023 terms.”
