What does it take for AU to rescind

Simply out of curiosity… I have an incredibly bad case of senioritis. I emailed my admissions counselor and asked if it would be alright to switch my math class to an elective because I was struggling and he said it was fine. However I then learned my principal wouldn’t let me drop the class anymore. It is my fourth year of math and not essential for me to graduate. I had a C when I sent in my application to AU and was accepted, and now its at an F. I’m hopeful that I could get it up, but if I can’t… would it be bad? A couple of my other classes have fluctuated slightly too. Not significantly though, and those are recoverable.

So does anyone know what the chances of being rescinded to AU are? Or what it takes to get rescinded?

AU is my top choice college and I’ve wanted to go here for as long as I can remember so it’d be crushing to screw up my last semester of highschool and ruin that for me.

Thanks

I think your best answer will come from making an anonymous phone call to Admissions.

If it makes you feel any better, you are not alone. This old thread might help you:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/american-university/705074-revoke-admissions.html

I don’t know how you could have possibly received an F… your case of senioritis must be horrible.

Anyways, I was in a situation like yours too for math during senior year and my admissions counselor told me to just not fail AKA get a C- or better and nothing will happen. Also, all my other grades were fine so it looked kind of okay. But then again… I met my admissions counselor in real life at a college fair so it was easy for me to approach him. Like someone else said above, you might want to make an anonymous phone call? Who knows.

I started my senior year taking 4 APs, an honors class, and 2 other curriculum 1 classes, with As or Bs in all of the above. I ended senior year with an independent study (I got an A) and 2 APs, both of which I received an F in. I obviously had other problems except for senioritis, but honestly, AU really didn’t care one bit. Maybe it’s because my SATs were above their average though…

Well I do have quite a few other things affecting me other than just senioritis. I’ve also been in pretty consistent contact with my admissions counselor but I’m just hesitant to ask him something like that for fear of looking bad.

Thanks for that information. It makes me feel a little bit better, but I’m still scared. My GPA and SAT were all below the AVG for AU so I don’t really have that backing me up. I think the only thing I had going for me was my essay and extracurriculars, because when my counselor called telling me I was accepted he told me that he really enjoyed my essay and made small talk about one of my extracurricular things. Other than that I didn’t even expect to get accepted. Did they put you on academic probation freshman year or even mention anything to you about getting 2 F’s? Or did they say nothing.

Thanks everyone who has responded, I’ll take the majority of your guy’s advice and make an anonymous call. And we aren’t even halfway through our second semester so I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to raise it in time.

auyattocs - I would love to know how your call went. S13 is starting to suffer from senioritis so I would love to know how concerned to be.
