ummm I don't chew gum because I addict easily, and in sugarfree they replace the sugar wi/ aspartame, which is horrible for you (don't ask me why, all the doctors/health people I know say it is and I take their word :D)....plus, the chewing makes my jaws hurt

Man, you guys are skinny, I'm 5'11", 150 pounds, which is still pretty skinny, except I have some muscle on my body. I eat nearly everything, I work out 2 a week at the gym, play a lot of frisbee and basketball, and like to sleep a lot. I eat alot of cheesy and fatty foods like burritos, BBQ chicken wings, pork, steaks, quesadillas, burgers, pizza, candy, choclate, gum, and especially marshmallows and cheetos. I dunno, but I think that if I'm burning off all those calories, then I sure as hell have a right to eat them as well. I'm pretty sure my caloric intake is over 3000 calories a day. :)

I know the definition of eat...

but..work out?...

haha irap i eat like a monster-- idk, i think i just have a really fast metabolism

and to the ongoing convo here, i absolutely LOVE bubble gum! :D

I have a really, really high metabolism -- for now. I can barely find jeans that fit me (I'm way tiny) but looking at my mom (and my developing double-chin), I can tell I'm not going to be able to keep up my figure once I hit the mid-30's or so.

i have a question for everyone who says they don't work out or play sports or anything (believe me this isn't an implication of anything i'm just geniunely curious...)

but when you're not physically active, do you ever feel bad about it? or feel like you should be doing something? i just ask because even if i go a day without doing something active, i feel kind of lazy and sluggish. maybe because sports have always been a big part of my life, but are others that way?

my biggest problem is that when my friends go out to lunch, its always to fastfood places, i hate fastfood so i am kind of stuck, right now i just bring some protein bars (good chocolate fix) and work in my AP chem class...anyone have problems with their friends eating places you dont want to go?

to lilachenko: i dont think its so much that people on here are fit, but scrawny

^perhaps you're right...
Either way, I'm neither.

I sink into a depression when I haven't run in a long time - but this has more to do with a lack of endorphins and maintaining a status quo. However, yes I do get pangs of guilt when I haven't done my daily routine. :(

same here^^ I get incredibly frustrated when I can't run, too, and woe to anyone who gets in my way during that period of time...

Same! I had multiple stress fractures in my hip/pelvis and couldn't run FOREVER last year. It sucked, I couldn't exercise at all, just sat around like a lazy bum.

5'4"/ 110

Back to the original topic, I'm pretty strict about what I eat because I want to stay healthy. I don't see the point in allowing yourself to become obese when it is so easily avoidable (for the most part, some may have slow metabolisms/ diseases, but not all Americans!). I got really unhealthily skinny last year because my coach wanted me to keep dropping weight for lower weight divisions, but now I just try to maintain :)

I usually eat 3 meals and 2 snacks spaced throughout the day, so that I don't get hungry. Everything's pretty well balanced in a set ratio (Meals ~30 carbs, 20 protein, 10 fat...snacks are 1/3 of that). It works out well for me, but I usually eat pretty close to the same thing everyday. As sad as it sounds, my weakness is food in bar-form. Seriously, I love granola bars, nutrigrain bars, luna bars, cliff bars, etc. I try to stick to real food though.

I usually work out 6 days a week and rest on Saturdays. I try to alternate easy and hard days, especially since my stress fractures. Some days I'll do as little as 1/2 hour on the bike and other days I'll do a full circuit with weight lifting, plyometrics, couple miles running, etc. I work out because it's good for me and I love the feel of the endorphins after:)

I guess typing it out, my eating/exercise looks a little obsessive. Really though, I think it just matches my personality. I'm pretty driven and follow a rigid schedule in most of my life, so I guess it makes sense that my eating and exercise are pretty organized.

zpmqxonw how much can you lift? bench?

wow
u reely are careful. i snack all the time. i dont stuff miself with fatty foods, but you seem to be, like, trans-fat freaks. i mean, lighten up! if you keep up your pathetic eating habits, not only will you be scrawny, but you'll also be dumb. food's good for the brain (at least thats what i keep telling myself, lol). enjoy food when you can, because when you become an adult, i swear you're gonna be one of those people on rigorous diets. not that that's bad, it's just that you lose the pleasures of life.

Yeah, if you have the right type of fat it's good for your brain. Omega 3 oils and basically the fats you get from nuts, olive oil, salmon, etc. are good but not all fat is beneficial.

I've been trying to lighten up, I think most of it's just old habits from trying to lose weight for competitions and stuff. Trust me though, I'm working on being less strict about it.

irapepillows, I can't lift much. I'm pretty much a weakling but it's ok cause I don't want to become one of those super buff weightlifting girls that look like men. I mostly just do a bunch of the machines with low weights, high reps for toning.

6'1''/180 ibs

I'm a football player so my diet consists of a lot of protein and a good amount of carbs. I also work out 3 days a week for one hour (chest/triceps on Monday, legs Wednesday, and back/biceps on Friday.)

I always make sure to eat some veggies (for general health) and bananas (for potassium) every meal.

crap I cant think in feet sorry, int. here...lol...I'm 1.92m and I weigh aroudn 74kg.....

i eat regular food, like not relly healthy stuff but I dont eat greasy stuff either.... Sometimes I have like healtphases where I'll just eat salads and stuff...I do eat at fast food places but once a week tops. And I try to excercise at least 3 times a week.

Everyone that keeps commenting about how "tiny" everyone is...if you are the same height as some of these folks but weigh a lot more, that doesn't mean you are necessarily overweight, so please don't go feeling bad about yourself. (hopefully not too many people are). First off, some of these people are SKINNY. Second, muscle weighs a LOT. On my entire basketball team of 12 very athletic girls, none of us are remotely overweight but there are 3 girls bumping 150 pounds. One girl is 5'6, thin and 110 pounds. Another is the same height, solid muscle, and 20 pounds heavier. Being 5'9 or 10 and 140-50 pounds, even for a girl, does not mean you are fat. Just thought I would remind everyone of that..

5'8 140ish (gaining a few) (male)
mm....i used to be kinda overweight as a child...like one of those cute chubby kids you see at the mall
then i joined the tennis team, kinda forced myself to lose weight
now im always afraid of gaining weight...even if i work out
i'll drink soda if its around, but i usually dont like potato chips meh.....
