So I recieved mail today from U of I housing. So I'm thinking, "oh, they chose where I'd be living," but no...

THEY SAY THAT THEY'RE RESIDENCE HALLS ARE FULL. They're saying that I have to wait for people to drop out, try to see if there's any private residence space, OR THEY'RE GONNA ALSO MAKE ROOMS FROM LOUNGE AREAS, THAT'S BAD IN MY VIEW.

Now, I did turn my housing stuff in about 5 days before the May 1st deadline, BUT THAT'S REALLY NO EXCUSE TO POSSIBLY MAKE ME LIVE IN WHAT USED TO BE A LOUNGE AREA. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT?

People pay lots of money to have their kids go to this school and they can't find room to put everyone in a residence hall or private housing? That's so screwed up.

The problem is they accepted too many people probably, being the reason for the lack of space.

Now I have to wait until July 25th to get anymore housing information. It's bogus.

It's my fault for waiting late to do the housing stuff, but still, wouldn't you think they'd have room? especially in the public residence halls.

That must suck. I think this has happened before. I once talked to a new teacher (who just finished his ugrad at UIUC) and he said there was a group of kids stuck in the lounge, but at the end of the semester, they didn't want to leave to a real dorm. Maybe it won't be so bad?

i would think it could be. I mean what are the lounges like? Is there any privacy like you'd get with a regular residential hall? Do they have everything that a residential hall has? Is there air conditioning?

Just seems to be an inconvienence to people like me. Too much money is being paid to these colleges and this kind of crap happens? It's inexcusable.

i got the same letter too telling me that the RESIDENCE HALLS ARE FULL AND I HAVE TO WAIT TILL JULY25th
i turned in my contract like mid of march...
i don't want to live at the lounge....><

I was in the 6-pack last year as a freshman and all of the lounges on my floor were used as living spaces in the fall semester. The rooms are the exact same size if not larger than the regular double-sized rooms. I'm almost 100% positive that they had closets and I know they had internet and tv connections. So, basically they are the exact same as any of the regular rooms in the dorms, or at least they were in scott hall last year. I wouldnt be too worried about living in the lounge, plus it will only be for one semester because in the spring, lots of room opens up in the dorms.

i applied on february 4th and got into Weston Exploration (6 pack). I'm definitely looking forward to it even though you late applyers will be sleeping in my lounge :-P

did you all find out by mail? or by email?
Is there any other who didnt find out yet?
Is it b/c I had a roomate preference?
there's no link I can find on the website where i can check my housing status

you find out formally by mail but some like Allen Hall e-mail you as well.
Is it true Allen Hall is also known as Lincoln Avenue Residence Hall?

i also got stuck in temp housing. but in the letter they said there is still room in weston and global exploration, so i emailed them and asked about getting one of those. oh well. Snyder was my first choice and i didn't think it would be so hard to get in to since it's substace free, but i guess even that filled up.

I found out today I'm in Taft (Peabody). I looked on a map, and I guess even though it's party of Peabody Drive it's not technically part of the '6 pack'...or is it. Anyway does anybody know what Taft is like?
