What GPA gets you into the top 10% at your HS?

be sure to say whether it's weighted or unweighted, what GPA does it take to get into the top 10% at your school? At mine top 10% is about 3.5UW with at least half honors/AP courses. That seems low to me.

I’m not sure what GPA makes it into the top 10 percent of my HS class (but I’m sure its like 3.7UW, 4.25 W ish). Last year’s senior class of 2011 had the top 10 GPAs of the school. I think the valedvictorians (all 10) had like a 4.0 UW/4.79W. I go to a competitive public school.

Not in school. My GPA is 3.7UW and my class rank is only 91 out of 379.

My school isn’t even competitive, its just such a small class size with smart students that actually care.

Wow, you can tell how crappy my school is lol!
I have a 3.5UW, & 5.4W/6.0.
& I’m number 3 in the class. >.>

I estimate (no official data is released) that you need around a 4.5-4.6+ out of 5.0 (honors and AP classes are weighted +1.0) to be in the top ten percent of class.

probably around 3.6

My school does class rank by weight, so it’s hard to estimate the UW.

Probably 3.85 UW, and 4.2 weighted

Mine’s probably 3.9 UW and 4.5 W. It really stinks, because what rank you are all depends on what you’ve taken, and whether they’re 4.0 or 5.0 classes.

it’s impossible to know- it depends on the gpa of the other people in your class. obviously, if you class is full of geniuses, you’re gonna need a higher gpa. likewise, if your class if full of idiotic jocks, you’re not gonna need as high a gpa

What is 90 People in your class are geniuses and the rest are jocks? :)

We only do weighted w/ our ranks. My friend is ranked… 5? And she has a 4.14 W. So she’s top 3%.

We only weight APs. If we weighted honors, I’d be rolling. It’s not fair that people who take straight regular classes and gets As for doing almost nothing can get a 4.0, and I have taken honors and APs and be at a ~3.86 W.

Honor classes are a joke at my school. >50% of the people take them.

Weighted 4.77. In Texas you now need to be top 8% for a guaranteed admit to state schools. Class of 797 students graduating in 2011.

We go by weighted and I think the cutoff was like 4.7 or 4.8 out of a practical maximum of around 5.5 (my friends and I calculated this maximum once). In other words a B/B+ average in the toughest curriculum.

-3.50 would do it for me… I think I’m wasting my time doing better than that.

UW: ~3.3
W: ~3.7

How I compare (Rank #1 btw)
UW: 4.0
W: 4.67

Shatty school indeed.

For us it’s like W: 4.55

We get +1.0 for Honors and AP Classes.

Eh… I rank in the top 1% with about a 3.9 UW and a 4.2 W

top 10% is about the first 68 people… so I’d say as low as 3.7

About 90% I would think here. Class of 779, best school in Western Canada.

Well, at my old high school, I had a 3.723 and was 10.01%, so I guess anything higher than that. lmaoooo
