What GPA should I aim for?

Finishing HS Junior year and will apply for the U but I know I have a boarderline chance. If I go to Mankato State can I transfer after a year? I will try for best GPA possible but what would you recommend for a realistic chance at transfer?

Here is my current stats:

3.3 uw (school deflates grades 94-100 A, 88-94 B) have been during better soph and junior year with a probable 4.0 for spring semester. There is no AP or Honors at my school all classes are college prep level for everyone.

School doesn't rank, its very small

ACT 28 only took once

Volleyball all three years should be varsity next year.
Varisity softball first two years, might not be a team this year.
Basketball freshman year (not good in this sport and practice was at 6am everyday)

Spent two weeks in Japan last summer thru People to People, we helped a little with Tsnaumi cleanup.
Hondurus mission trip this year, 10 days working with elementry kids teaching English and helping to improve infrastructure of local church.
Young Life for 3yrs.(Love this program in my town).
I am not a leader in anything, its just not who I am.
I am Hispanic but not first to attend college.

I would like to go to the U to study Psychology.

Thanks

You fare an okay shot with your current stats but if you can get your GPA to hurdle 3.5 I’d say the odds are probably in your favor.

Can your school send both the 4 point and the percentage GPA. If it does then your GPA should be higher than 3.3. Also take the ACT again or the SAT. You still have plenty of time.

Here are the stats for the 2012 freshman admissions:

Thanks for the reply. Going to keep working on GPA and work for a higher ACT. Will apply and hope for the best. Sorry to see Gophers out of the tournament but big congradulations for the women’s hockey team.
