Because of the state-budget cuts that affects my CC heavily and everywhere pretty much (they even cut more needed classes and capped class limit to lower than it was before and before was also capped lower than previous), I had planned my entire courses to take (the TAU update) for my last year here (hopefully; 3rd year student almost 4).

However I registered for all the needed class this spring except I got into a waitlist for English 1C (Critical Thinking and Writing) and the way it looks on the class catalog, EVERY English 1C class were full and all the waitlist for them were full as well, luckily I found one class with a waitlist open status. I went to the class to add, but nobody dropped and the professor can't overadd, he has to wait for someone to drop but he said it doesn't look too good...(and also there are like 3-4 people ahead of me on the waitlist) so 5 people has to drop in order for me to get a "realistic" chance to get in.

-So my main point is: WHAT IF you can't finish a IGETC course (only English 1C left), does that makes your whole UC App into the 'trash'? I hope that the UC's understand the difficult circumstances that students experiences not finishing their IGETC because of the CC's facing difficult times especially the students taking almost all of the grunts from the budget cuts. What Happens Next? don't want to stay...Some people said its a Partial IGETC or something, but I don't know if I can take in summer (because I'm getting my AA before I transfer)

I also finally raised my GPA to 3.32 (with winter) from a 2.96 back in Fall 2011 (only one D which I explained, and two C's and most B's in all my years)

I am also a Poli Sci major/International studies (UCI minor) (finished all pre-reqs except Calc and Computer Sci class (Java) for Irvine) and applied to UCLA (NO CHANCE), UCD, UCSD (no chance I think?), UCSB, and UCI (my number one school)

-Also should I report my winter grades just for fun? (I know that UC's don't look at it for admission but doesn't hurt to update TAU again??

Thank You

1 word " yup" into the trash. Sorry about that.

yeah I knew it, sigh…

I hope in the next two weeks somebody drops and let me take in their place (especially for those who are not even transferring this year). Still I’m not going to giving up and keep fighting. I only got hope now…

@lawlking thanks

Well, there are other institutions you can look at such as The University of Southern California. The costs are high at USC but they do give very good financial aid packages to well deserving students. You can check the the Norman T something something scholarship for hispanics? I am not sure about the details. I do know that at USC, you will get an education like no other where classroom turn into discussions and professors with true passion are at the top of their game. (Football). For example, if your income is <60K a yr, USC will offer you something like 40K grant. (COA is something like 58K:() But if you use your resources wisely and plan accordingly, ~~~~~~~~~~~40K + some outside scholarships (LAgrant) and some UNSUBSIDIZED loans (gov’t pays interest while you are in school) could squeeze you by!! Historically, USC has graduated some of the brightest minds and its Alumni Network is Amazing! Learn what it means to be a trojan (true trojan) at [University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu)

@UCLAProspect

USC is not going to be a option for me unfortunately (it would be one of my option for a MPA or MBA after my BA), and I know the App deadline is late, (I highly know its too late)

I would write a personal letter to the Chancellor at UC______ and explain to them the guidelines and circumstances. I am sure they would (hope) read it and take that into consideration. Sorry, that’s all I can think of. (Cal State)? Maybe

@Fredfrep:

Good luck at UC_____ or Cal State______. Wish the best journey to USC Marshall School of Business MBA program!!!

Igetc is not a requirement for admission.

yes, but taking GE’s at UC’s are a pain!!

Woot I heard MBA at usc. I hope they will accept me after my BA. Trojan is here !! haha

@cit, I think English ( in area 1) is one of those “must take” before transfer. It’s a requirement.

@Ferrari4XD

I know HAAS is your die hard option and I respect that…let the committeeeeee battle it out. Hope you have Business Ethics under your belt!

@^ neither. I love both USC and Cal. Im a socal guy and of course USC is one of my options.

Well, The Marshall School of Business is one of the top programs in the country and I can tell you if you’re a good student, they do provide “JOBS”!!! Starting salary could be $50K+…but you pay $58K to attend so you can calculate the ROI.

@fer - lol yee after I wrote that I looked back and realized the class…and it is a requirement…and it is one for the CSUs

You need English…its OUR OWN LANGUAGE FOR US!! OMG

@ucla
I will probably aim for a UC to get my BA then USC for mba. thats my goal and of course talking about mba right now is quite far ahead haha.
I don’t wanna pay that much
because I am not an international student or out of state.

how come my community college only requires english 1A and 1B for IGETC? is that normal?

@^
To transfer, you need 2 English classes.

1A and 1B or 1C.

1A with 1B or 1A with 1C.

1B reading liter
1C critical thinking
