What is each UC strong in?

Yea, what topic says. All I pretty much know is Berkeley: science, math, engineering. LA: science, math. Davis: biology, agricultural stuff.

Irvine is a big premed campus, and there math department is pretty strong. Oh and its the place for computer science

Just to add, as far as I know UCSC is distinguished in Physics/Astrophysics and Linguistics especially.

UCSB is great for physics I hear
Davis is good for bio and related engineering
UCLA i know is great for film, probably others too

UCSB: Physics, Engineering, happy students :)

UCLA is great for basketball, if your into that.

THey invest quite a bit into the program

That’s true. Their current coach Ben Howland was an assistant at UCSB, but UCSB passed on him for head coach when the opportunity opened up. UCSB instead hired UC Davis’s head coach Bob Williams who succeed greatly with the Aggies in Division II but allowed UCSB to sink into mediocrity. Thanks Davis :frowning: Sorry for the aside :p

Heh…UCSB happy students…keep the replies coming!

UC Davies basketball is D1 too. They play in the Big West with UCSB,UCR,CSUN,CSULB,CSUF,CSUB,and Pacific

UCD UCR UCM are agriculture.

UCLA,CAL,UCI,UCR,UCSD have great engineering programs

*UC Davies basketball is D1 too. *

Yeah I know, but they only transitioned recently after being very successful in Division II.

Davis is 33 in this list for Engineering, while Irvine is like 48. So shouldn’t Davis be considered strong in Engineering as well.

opps brain fart. I from so cal so I forgot that

yet no1 mentioned UCSB is strong at engineering
ranking # 37 ;)

jeez all this science and math stuff :o

UCB is known for History (i mean common… the place made history)
Although UCD’s strongest in “agriculture” the most popular major there is Psychology.
source is from UCD’s pamphlets (the ones you get when you go there) or from their website: [Welcome to UC Davis](http://www.ucdavis.edu)

UCSB is great for chemical engineering (the reason I’m there), materials science and physics.

I wouldn’t say that UC Davis is known for psychology just because it’s their number one major. Psychology is the second most popular major in the US, with Business Admin being the first. Seeing as UCD doesn’t have a business program, it makes sense that Psych would be most popular.

Don’t forget that Berkeley’s undergrad business (Haas) is ranked 3rd in the nation!

Cal - Business/engineering
UCLA - Business
UCSB -chemical engineering/materials science
UCD - environmental and agriculture
UCSD - bioengineering/bio
UCSC - birds and nature related stuff
the rest - not sure

UCSC: #1 for birds…

=/

^lol, you can at least give UCSC credit where its due…don’t need to mock it.

UCSC as said is ranked very high in astrophysics and linguistics in particular and is known for specialized majors such as computer game design, community studies, etc.
