i recently got into newhouse and i kind of applied to the school on a whim. While since December i have done a lot of research i would love for someone to give me some personal information about the school, and what i can expect at newhouse as a student, if i decide to attend.
Thanks SO much!

P.S. While I understand that newhouse is one of the best journalism/comm schools around I keep reading on here that newhouse is really hard to get into... yet with my stats which are above average but not amazing i got in. I was just wondering why people keep saying that.

I’ve just been admitted to newhouse in tv-radio-film, and I almost decide to study there. BTW, I am an international graduate student, hope you’ll be adimitted too, if you wanna go there

@momentlu
I got in a bout 3 weeks ago and ama probably going to end up there too, because i really want to study journalism and SU has one of the top programs.

specific questions please.???..
my daughter is a sophomore at Newhouse…and there are a number of other parents of Newhouse students on CC; (but I don’t feel like writing a book-haha…)

edit: noticed that you have posted that you were accepted to Northwestern medill-ED…?? not going to get nasty on a public forum, but there is no way you can pull out of NU ed for a couple of thousand dollars…to go to Newhouse…if either school finds out, you are going to be staying in California in September

@rodney.
I have already talked to northwestern and SU and have worked it all out, but thanks anyway. My family is has gone through a lot of financial changes and a couple thousand dollars actually will make a big difference. sorry if that sounded at all rude but that is what happened.

as for specific questions-
What are the classes like? are they more lecture based or hands on?
I am very interested in become a part of the daily orange and citrus tv. I have talked to alums of newhouse and they said that is possible. is that true?

oh and a more general question-
How bad is the cold? being from california i am not really sure how i will adapt.

P.S i went to a admitted students meeting for SU and have pretty much decided that i want to go there. From the students and faculty i met i feel like it has a great atmosphere and i will really thrive there.

hey wittywriter, i am looking forward to applying to Newhouse next year, seeing that i am only a junior now. My SAT’s are pretty low (540 CR, 680 MTH, 610 WRT) My junior year GPA is a 3.6/7 unweighted, and a 4.3 weighted, at a pretty good hs. Now that you have some experience with what it takes to get in… may i ask what your credentials were? I am pretty much dead set on going early decision there. anything you can give me… scores, grades, info, can help. Thanks!
