other than WUSTL.

I gotta go NYU or BU here. Maybe Emory.

personally i think its vanderbilt. neone agree?

NYU in people's opinions (especially New Yorkers). Of course WUSTL too.

somehow even though i'm not going to WUSTL, just because they gave me a good scholarship i feel like defending them. But they're not really the top 11 as in USNEWS. They're more like the Northwestern, CMU level.
But seriously NYU is overrated. It's just full of bunch of rich kids.

does vandy really deserve such a high ranking like #18 on USNEWS?

Do you mean BC instead of BU, Bobbo? How on earth can BU be overrated? It's not even a top 50 school!

WUSTL, Emory, Notre Dame, NYU, USC, half the LACs and some of the ivies. Duke and Vandy also tend to be a bit overrated.

CalX--

Please provide your qualifications which enable you to call those schools listed as overated.

Also Penn, Duke are overrated on USNEWS. Brown is underrated.

Don't hate on NYU. It's top in many areas- Stern, Tisch, as well as many of its liberal arts programs (philosophy, art history, math, chem, etc.).

WUStL would've been my vote, but I'll switch it to Georgetown (possibly CMU as well). Vanderbilt doesn't have enough popular appeal to be overrated.

There is a difference between overrated (general prestige and fame) and overranked (US News, etc).

Emory is NOT overrated!!!! They do so much valuable research every year, not mention the fact that they work closely with the CDC!! How can that be overrated??!?!?!?!

Vanderbilt, USC, BU, NYU (in certain areas), a lot of the UCs, Penn, Tufts

musictoad: those schools' USNWR rankings greatly exceed their general academic reputation.

brigham young

Southern schools (Davidson, Vandy, W&L, etc) are definitely underrated on these boards. Not overrated.

Notre Dame and WUSTL get my vote.

someone said half the LACs are overrated. what are some of the LACs that are overrated?

WUSTL gets my vote.
