What is your FA package? Hate to pry, but...

@Matt4200 I’m unsure on campus based fees, but I’m thibking that health care fees apply to visiting the school nurse or any medical insurance things.

@Matt4200 last year they combined for 130k with my mom 70 and my dad 60, but I’m very suspicious of that. I thought I would be eligible for work-study but apparently I’m not.

As much as it sounds dirty, my parents divorcing would help me out a lot. I’m already planning on getting a job no matter which UC I attend.

@mr401k - How about Cal Grant?

Nah on the unofficial award letter it doesn’t give me any Cal Grant money. I checked my Cal Grant application and it doesn’t show anything under award details.

On the Cal Grant site it says for new applicants you’ll kno in May so keep hoping!

Hmm…I swore I selected “on campus”

Could it be because I’m a transfer student that they put “off campus” for me?

I’ve been admitted but i haven’t received an Unofficial FA package on my UCSB account. should i be concerned? or do these things come out in waves as well?

So UCSB gave me a pretty generous unofficial financial aid package of about 23K(this includes work-study money) which is pretty nice.

It helps to be poor as **** sometimes. Still, UCLA is my #1 school and I’d like to see how their financial aid package will compare if I get accepted. Berkeley, too.

@randombookie

Same, I just saw it and now I’m freaking out so I am going to check my FAFSA to make sure I actually put on campus…

@Anthroflo - I put on campus as well but in the unofficial package it shows the breakdown and funding for off campus.

Maybe because it’s unofficial and they rushed doing things?

Hopefully the official version will be more accurate

@AnthroFlo, yeah it’s bc we’re transfer students, so they just put “off campus” as default
@Matt4200, thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info @randombookie.
Not really sure what to make of it though, just because I thought that UCSB stated on their website that transfers are guaranteed housing for the first year if paperwork was turned in by a certain deadline… I’m probably just reading too much into it.

@Anthroflo - It’s most likely just because it’s unofficial

UCR gave me
$16000 UCR grant
$1000 transfer scholarship
$5500 sub loan
$1500 unsub loan
A lot more aid than i thought id get especially with my EFC!

@sonic23 - No Cal Grant? And what’s the $1000 Transfer Scholarship??

Here is mine for UCSD and UCSB

UCSD:

Cal grant: 12,192
Pell grant: 5,680
UCSD grant: 4,337
Work Study: 2,400
Federal direct subsidized loan: 5,500
Federal direct unsubsidized loan: 1,217

UCSB:

Cal grant:12,192
Pell grant: 5,680
UCSB grant: 2968
Work Study: 2300
Federal direct subsidized loan: 5,500
Federal direct unsubsidized loan: 1,417

@nickkwooddd - What are you stats and EFC if you don’t mind me asking?

@Matt4200 nope no cal grant i figured i wouldnt get i though because my income exceeded the ceiling limit. I guess blue and gold program is the reason why i got the 16000 ucr grant .The scholarship is a ucr chancellor’s scholarship.

@sonic23 - I don’t think there’s an income limit on the Cal Grant…and they are even awarded til May.

@Matt4200 i googled it, there was a chart and according to my family size of two the income limit was around 36000ish and im independent
